Exterior Lamp Replacement

Anyone have a link to where I can purchase a replacement LED "bulb" for the exterior light (2016 E21)? I just purchased the following unit:

However, it did not come as shown in the listing. See my pic attached.... The protrusions at the base of the new bulb (right) are 90 degrees off from the original bulb (left). When the new bulb is inserted it points up or down but not out as it should.

Will probably contact the LED vendor and tell him about this small detail.

Question about the original one, if you insert into the base and twist to lock, then the replacement would work but I can not understand how the original one works?

cpaharley: Both the original and the replacement work in the sense that they light up. However the replacement is 90 degrees off when inserted so that it is pointing the wrong way.

On old incandescent bulbs this didn't matter because they gave off light in 360 degrees. These LED's only give off light perpendicular to the circuit board on which the LED's are mounted.

I had the same issue with that bulb on my Scamp exterior light. I discovered the base was built so it could be turned to change the orientation of the bulb. Not sure if the one you have there allows that to be done or not, but it did on the one I purchased.

I was thinking the base slots were horizontal but if vertical I understand. Can the base be rotated?

I found the same issue when I had to replace our porch light. I just lived with it until now, but if there is a better option, would like to know what that is.

The base is fixed (non-rotating). I am exploring other options and will report back.

But the photons being emitted on the back side aren't as efficient since they have to bounce off the reflector

Seriously though, I will likely order some "round" replacement LED's tonight.
