extra insulation under bed

I added some reflectix insulation under the bed of our 21 and under the drivers back bench seat. Both of these areas have outside access doors and I'm concerned about drafts during cold weather camping. We're going to Yosemite next month, and it's already in the 20's at night. I will seal the joints with reflex tape. hopefully it will pay off. I also wrapped the hot water heater and plan to cover the water pipes with insulating pipe wrap.

Do you have the extra insulation package and foam underneath? If so, the access door would be your weak point. With the furnace on or auxiliary electric heat I never had any cold bed issues, but I guess it would not hurt and may help with condensation issues around the bed.

Oh yes, we have foam and extra insulation package, but I was concerned about the large dead air space under the bed and the access doors. haven't had any condensation issues yet, but then I haven't been to a humid area either.

You will get it in the winter when it is cold outside and you are inside warm and breathing, crack the o/h vent and a window to keep it to a minimum.

We used to do 1-2 week ski trips.

Had one camper that I added a very small computer fan to the enclosure to push some heated air from inside the trailer under the bed area. Not much, and it worked well - made some holes for the return air to the living space.

Didn't want too much warm air leaving the trailer through an exterior hatch, so made sure the seals were snug on that.

back storage hatch insulation

I also boxed in the back hatch where the power cable is stored. I felt that the large opening containing the batteries and the surge protector didn't need to wide open, so I made a little dam and stapled reflexit to it. front and back views.

I also moved the power disconnect switch from under the table where I was constantly turning it off by just loosening the nuts and just moving it back into the storage compartment. made my own bracket out a piece of scrap. you can see it in the lower right corner of picture #1

If you are going to have hookups an electric blanket is sure nice.

What I really like much better is a heated bed pad. I like the heat underneath me.

Has anyone had any problems with cool air coming up through the bed? It'll be nice to hear about a before and after experience.

Different strokes for different folks. I like the idea when I get a bit too warm I can kick the blanket off for a minute. If the bed itself was warm, I'd probably need to get up and out. ;)

Looks good Jerry. I may holler at you when we get our 21' for guidance.
