I’ve been searching the forum and found some answers to this question, but a few more right here would help.

If you tow an E19 with either an F150 2.7 Ecoboost or a Ford Ranger 2.3 EcoBoost, what does your towing mpg look like?

Thanks!!!

Just bought a Ranger with the 2.7 EB. All I can say now is 14-15 driving reasonable (65 or so) in Texas pulling a Casita SD. Our new E21C leaves Chilliwac any day now and hoping for similar.

Sorry, I know it wasn't what you asked.

Thanks! I appreciate the reply. It gives me some insight. Congrats on your new E21C. I pick up my E19 in March.

2023 F150 SCAB 2.7 4x4 pulling Flagstaff 529BH and I get 9-10 with trailer sometimes better, not pulling 20-27

Is the Flagstaff 529BH something like 11,000+ pounds fully loaded?

Pretty good mph not pulling!

Thanks for the info!

Somewhere around that, but I don’t have a lot in the rig and the fresh tank is the only one I keep water in and that is minimal at best. I ran numbers once and it was close.

Much heavier than an Escape anyway, so probably a little more mpg with an Escape in tow. 🤔

2023 F-150 , 2.7 Ecoboost,, 2WD, 3.55 axle. Max 66 mph in Trailer Tow mode (locks out 10th gear). When brand new retrieving our E19 from Chilliwack back to Toronto all the way in Canada we got 13.4 US mpg. Now broken in I assume it must be better.

2024 Ford Ranger Lariat 2.7 EB pulling our new E21C
25 miles from our storage to Huntsville State Park, half 45 mph and half 65 mph Interstate.
65 on the freeway in 8th gear (locked out of 9 and 10) in towing mode, driving easy as it is the first time towing the Escape. 2,300 RPMs at 65 MPH and as little boost as I could manage.
14.5 mpg each way as reported by the truck. Towed great, it does move around as people pass me more than the Casita used to.

Longer trip to Arkansas planned in March for more accurate MPG, Im planning on 14 until I lose patience and use the cruise (if I figure it out by then).

I have owned three (3) F-150s and many, including me, refer to “as reported by the truck” as Ford’s “Lie-o-Meter.” If you use odometer readings and the gallons required to fill the tank you will likely find that Ford is very generous to themselves in calculating mpg.

Our 2016 F150 3.5EB 4Door 4x4's Lie-o-meter is pretty close to my hand calculations towing our 21C. Sometimes it shows worse mileage than by hand, sometimes not. But all with .5/MPG.

We get anywhere between 8 and 14 depending on headwinds, mountains etc.. We once got over 17 MPG on a tank full but we had a hardy tailwind and mostly downhill out of the mountain. Our last 1900 mile trip to and from the panhandle of Florida we averaged 13.4 MPG (by hand). Key Note! Light on throttle starts, 62 MPH max, little to no headwinds for the most part and no mountains.

We've driven head on into a 25+ MPH headwind and got a whopping 8.1 MPG. Gotta love a good headwind. :ROFLMAO:

Have a superb F150 2.7 EB 4x4 36gal tank with canopy pulling a E19. On my last trip to Yukon/Alaska got 13.8 US mpg. Similar to most.

One other thing to assess on choice between Ranger and F150 is dropping tailgate with trailer attached. is there a setback difference with tailgates in truck size. I am able to drop my tailgate and I would be pretty upset if I couldn't when accessing back load.

The F150 is pretty well same width as the E19. I can look down side with stock mirrors right along trailer. My SnapOn tow mirrors give me even more visibility along to back of tow. I even found with truck being in line with tow, this may help with mud flaps keeping spray and mud more outboard. With Rock Tamers it was even better.

Can't say enough about having the 36gal fuel tank.

Just FYI, the 'Lie-O-Meter' (average MPG display) can be adjusted to improve its consistency / accuracy on some F150s. Here's a post on an F150 forum illustrating how that's done and an example of the results.

(edit, more FYI - this capability is built-in to the truck, no external device or 'programming tool' is needed)
