Natchez Trace is our go to North-South route, because we aren't in a hurry anymore. Relaxing drive, no tractor trailers, free overnight camping.

It is interesting that the Natchez Trace State Park in TN is over an hour's drive from the Trace. Natchez State Park, Natchez, MS is on the Trace.

Lake Amistad, located near Del Rio, TX, is a very popular bass fishing lake. There are tournaments almost every week; sometimes as many as 150 boats register. Black bass is the most popular fish there but there are pan fish, crappie and blue catfish.

The Laughlin AFB at Del Rio have a campground on the lake with a small marina where Jon boats can be rented from MWR. The CG is W/E only with a tenting/pop-up area with 15 AMPs. There are a few cabin rentals.

Other boat rentals are available from area off water marinas. They will launch powered Jon boats and pick them up at days end.

The water is very clear making sight fishing for bass more fun.

When traveling in Maine we like to stay at family owned and managed RV Parks/CGs. Timberland Acres at Trenton, ME is one of them. See the link below for all the details. From this RV Park we can make many side trips to all area attractions. Not mentioned in the link is the fact that there is a full service Wal-Mart less than a mile away.

Many years ago during my youth, my father liked to go to Bar Harbor for the popular Pollock fish run. Tens of thousands of Pollock chased huge schools of sardines all around in the waters off the coast of Bar Harbor. Pollock can grow to a top weight in the 40 pound area. However, the run fish were normally about 3 pounds and very fast. We trolled fast with silver fishing spoons. Local fisherman often made their own spoons from silver table tea spoons with an attached treble hook.



These pictures were taken while visiting Acadia NP. We would drive into Bar Harbor for lunch and dinners at the old rustic places on the back streets. The last two pictures give a little idea of the tides at Bar Harbor.

I've paddled my canoe in some big waves. Not sure why a dinghy would have to be heavy. Had a retired lifeboat for a short time and owned a 15' "trawler".

I also have a walker bay 8.
I don't consider it to be very heavy but it can be ungainly to lift on my own. They can sail, motor, row and tow behind your lifeboat or trawler. They're made out if Tupperware it seems, I wish they came with a burp lid

I tent camped there in the big camper area with a friend on our Harley trip a few years ago. We had 6 cold'ish beers, 2 tiny SlimJim's and still warm coals to start a fire.



Unfortunately it's too hard to carry poles on the bike.

They make telescopic cane poles now.
Even telescopic fly rods.
