For Administrator - Topic Click Goes to Ad

So tired of double clicking to get rid of the ad...I find myself not logging as much

Another method to try is to click on the "back" arrow when the ad comes up. On my tablets that returns to the list of threads and when I click on the thread the ad doesn't come back. It still takes two clicks but at least the ad disappears instantly and you can go on your way.

All of the frustration being expressed is good news to the website--it means that people are just about ready to pay for ad free content.

Not gonna pay just to view helpful ideas here on this site total BS if it goes that way

I fortunately don’t have this problem, and I love this forum and it’s help. However, when I get aggravating add loaded forums, I simply quit using them. I hope that doesn’t become the case for me here. I don’t need the info enough to allow more aggravation in my life. It finally got to the point I went through the 30 day process to delete my FB account. Miss some folks, but it got to the point I had to lose all of the other garbage.

Make sure you are LOGGED IN. In-threads ads will disappear and other unanticipated behavior. Click "remember me" as you log in and make sure you are allowing cookie exchange with the site. We use cookies to keep you logged in as you navigate around the site.

Hey, Janet. This one is new and different than what we usually encounter. (I’m having the same thing here on Escape Forum, although maybe not on FiberglassRV.)

I did some research on this and have discovered the issue - still not sure how to resolve it, although an ad-blocker is one solution.

We run google ads on the site and google has made a change. When you click on a thread (even logged in) you see that big ad. It is dismissable and then seems to not reappear during your session but I agree it is annoying.

I downloaded Ad Block One and that seems to work to eliminate the ads. This is an extension for Safari on Mac.

It just happened to me when I clicked on "page 2. " Was wanting to read the next page of this thread but instead got this! Very annoying. This is a screenshot of what I got. (And it varies. Someone is obviously watching my other posts and trying to get me to buy their product.) This must stop.

If this forum follows the same path as at least two other forums that use the large display pop up ad we will next have the opportunity to become “supporting members” at $12/yr. No ads and a few posting upgrades.

This worked for me. My iPad had become unusable on this site with safari or chrome. I downloaded some free ad block from the App Store ( the one with 5 star rating) and followed the instructions on it, without buying any subscription. Now safari on my iPad is working great again. I strongly suspect that an update disabled the safari blockers that are available under settings, safari, extensions. Maybe this ad blocker isn’t needed, but following the instructions was the ticket for me.

I don't have the ads but I have 'dead space' where the ad would be seen. I use MS Edge and have it configured to be very strict.

The pop up add when you first click has stopped popping up but now have a ton of little adds while trying to read post on a thread it’s now way way worse
