Hello Everyone :)

Is anyone towing a E23 with a late model F150. I’m wondering how the pro backup assist setup works. My owners manual tells me to put a couple of stickers on the A Frame just back from the ball connection and I’m thinking there is really no room for those stickers, anyone been through this?

Thanks,

JJ

I don’t know how to link to another thread but there is one about this in the Towing and Hitching section (search F150 Trailer Assist Backup Setup).

Sounds like you may need to mount the sticker on a separate plate bolted to your hitch as there’s not enough room.

Based on that thread, I never bothered setting mine up and just do it myself. Good luck

Hey, thanks for the reply Jeff. I’m thinking the same, if it takes me longer than a cup of coffee to figure out I’m moving on. I don’t need it either just thought it’s something I paid for in the truck might as well see if it’s of any use.

Cheers,
JJ

I installed a plate to hold the sticker.

I've been towing trailers since I was a teenager so I've never bothered using it.

My wife tried it out. First time she parallel parked between two other vehicles. :thumb:

Now that she's gained some experience she's never used it again. :)

Hi Ron,
Thanks for your input. I found the post Jeff was mentioning, it is essentially the same as you have come up with but is a more permanent fixture being a screwed down metal plate. I’ve backed a few trailers in my time as well so think I will go with your suggestion. Once I’ve satisfied my curiosity I’ll remove it and will never turn it on again.

Mine is permanent. It's on an aluminum plate bolted to the tongue jack. That was just a positioning photo.

It's controlled by the little round knob. In effect, an ultra mini steering wheel. It sure can move those front wheels faster than you can turn the steering wheel.

I just set up my Pro Trailer Back Up. I placed the sticker on the centerline of the tongue starting just aft of the coupler lock handle and it ends just at the power jack vertical tube. I had to cut the sticker a bit for the jack bolt. My biggest problem was finding room to do the calibration in the middle of the city. The system works great, really spins the steering wheel fast! If you zoom in on this photo you can see the sticker.

Thank you! Just purchased our '24 F-150 XLT hybrid w/ Powerboost this week and have yet to read up on the Pro Trailer Backup. This will help tremendously.

It does work amazingly well. I mounted the sticker on a thin piece of aluminum held on by one of the tongue jack bolts.

My wife tried it out. Drove down a street lined with cars that looked like it had a truck and trailer size gap. Parallel parked it first try. I was truly shocked. :)

Being old school I still back up manually but it's there if I need it.

Ron

I was so excited about pro backup. Unfortunately it doesn’t work with the 5.0. It can work with fifth wheels but only with the F250.
