Ford F150 Options?

note a tire 'expert' might also not recommend a given tire because its not available in the vehicles speed rating.

for example, my 2019 Expedition, with 18" wheels uses 275/65-18... the factory specified speed range S tires, up to 112 MPH sustained. In that size, KO2's are only available as speed "R", 106 MPH.

now, I will never plan drive over 105 MPH in this SUV for even a short time, so the R speed rating doesn't bother me.

The KO2's are only available in "E" for that tire size. I went with them because they have a very good reputation of toughness and ride quality.

Thanks, Alan for all your thoughts.

My XLT has 265/70 R18 tires and yes, has the FX4 off-road package. It is a unique build. The General Grabbers that came on the truck had a load index of 113 I think.

There are some nice SL tires I could use but they won't put them on since they need to match or better what came on the truck and those are LT tires.

I've looked at the BFG KO2 and KO3, Hankook Dynapro AT2 Xtreme, Wrangler AT Adventure with Kevlar, Falken Wildpeak, and Michelins as well as the General Grabbers. I just need to make a decision! I'm sure I would be happy with any of those.

I just bought my sixth set of Michelin LTX AT2 tires. I guess you could say I like them.
I like: the AT and LT aspects of them because we don’t always stick to good roads, the quiet ride, and the mileage I get from them.

Finally back in town. The magic number is 1363 lbs.

is that a SuperrCrew (4 door), SuperCab (half doors in back), or standard cab ? thats the single biggest factor on curb weight, which directly impacts payload. and is it a 4x4 or not ? that also makes a large difference, the transfer case and front axles adding 100s of lbs to the truck.

It's SuperCrew with 5.5 ft. bed. Yes, it's 4x4.

my 2008 Tacoma 4x4 AccessCab had 1200 lbs payload, which I found inadequate, 500 lb tongue weight, 100 lbs fiberglass shell, 450 lbs driver+passenger, and we barely had room for the dog. or my astronomy gear. As I had load "E" tires on it, and airbags, I pretty much ignored that I was right on the line or a little over it

my Expedition 4x4 Limited with nearly every option has a 1500 lb payload which is a little more reasonable.
