Ford VS Escape

Speaking of repairs to an aluminum F150, don't know if you recall but mine had a ton of little dents from hail damage. Anyway, finally got it repaired (long wait due to body shops being booked solid for over a year) and turns out they didnt need to replace or paint anything. Entire repair was done PDR, and came out flawless.

What is PDR?
Paintless Dent Removal
Yeah, sorry for the unclear abbreviation.

They use rods and wedges of various lengths and shapes, (sometimes suction cups) and they attach these little grid reflectors so as they coax the metal back to it's original shape they can see when its in the exact right place. Obvious advantage is it's quicker, cheaper, and still has the factory finish. There were no breaks in the paint in my case, so the PDR worked perfectly.

Let us know how the repair goes on the aluminium F150. 4-5 years down the road Ill be needing a new truck and barring some poor changes from Ford was looking at another F150.

I need to get in to do a regular service, and will ask then whether they can just suck it out like Robert described. Will let you all know.

I think the paint will after getting the dint out. It is not a harsh dint at all, about 2" wide with no sharp edges. Not going to worry about it a lot though, the truck still does its job, which is the main reason for buying it. :)

There's one definite advantage to owning vs leasing - you can leave minor cosmetic issues alone. In my case I had no choice but to get every little ding repaired, or face a financial penalty when I turn the truck in next March.

Hard to believe it'll be 3 years already. Where did the time go?
