What attributes are desirable and necessary to become an moderator and a member of the site team of the Escape Forum?

Thanks for asking. When there is a need for forum moderators we look for currently active members who are posting in helpful ways. Generally invitations to help out are sent via PM and we don't post general solicitations for help or polls or other public announcements about this. If you have more questions about this just shoot me a PM. :)

Trusted member qualifications?

Hi, new member here. How do I become a trusted member so I can PM another with a Q.

I could be wrong, but I didn't think you needed to be a trusted member. I thought if you were logged in and the intended recipient accepts PMs you can send one.

I tried to send a PM to a fellow Texan but a pop up notice said "..to prevent spammers...must be a trusted member..."
cpaharley seems to have remedied that. Thanks

Our software scans for links placed in messages by new members and members with fewer than 10 posts. This is a spam abatement tool and while it's an inconvenience for new members it has substantially cut down on problems. After you've posted a bit more this will no longer be an issue. Thanks for understanding.

I am a junior member and replied to a classified ad. How do I know if my message was sent to the person that placed the ad?

Did you send a private message or posted on the forum? Both should show your message. Just because no response does not mean it was not sent. Try sending it both ways.

I'm not certain if my view is different that yours since I'm a moderator, but when you send a PM and go to Advance View, you may have the option of clicking the checkbox for "Save a copy of this message in your Sent Items folder" (the second check box). This may help you.

It is the same for an ordinary member. This works to keep a copy of what you sent. Another way to do the same thing is to put yourself in the recipients list (I use the BCC section).

I'm not sure that this addresses the intent of the question:
How do I know if my message was sent to the person that placed the ad?
Keeping a copy does confirm what the forum software sent, but it doesn't tell you if the other member received or read it, which might be what you need to know.

To do that, also check the first box: Request a read receipt for this message. If the recipient agrees, you will be notified when they read it, in a list which you can find in your PM section.

If your PM was not sent, you would receive an error message.

To save all your sent messages in your Sent Items folder by default;

Click on User CP

Under Settings & Options, click on Edit Options

Under Messaging & Notification in the Private Messaging section check this box; "Save a copy of sent messages in my Sent Items folder by default"

Click on Save Changes at the bottom.

It would be extremely helpful if you could separate actual news from Reace and Tammy from all the pages of replies from users. "Escape News" should be separate. Otherwise, we have to page through everyone's comments just to find out more from R & T. Many of the comments are superfluous. I know we are all excited, especially about he new design, but this was meant to showcase what was actually going on at ETI. Customer comments belong in another thread or section, Maybe a file called Escape News Comments? Just my opinion. Thanks.

Yes, Vickie, that might be helpful.
Just for anyone's info, if someone wants to see only Reace or Tammy's comments, he or she can click on the name and find all of their posts.

Reace and Tammy often start their own threads. Although Reace has posted in threads started by others. As far as I know, there's no way to restrict threads to comments only to specific members. It's all or nothing. Cathy is correct. If you wish to read only comments/threads by Reace and/or Tammy. Use their profile information to find posts.
