Forum Update - We're back! Ask your questions here.

Sorry to be a downer, but I'm a retired commercial photographer and have seen copyright abuses run rampant over recent years. This is a clear copyright infringement and should not be condoned. I recommend asking for and receiving permission before "repurposing" someone's creative work.
Hmm, from this forum's Terms of Service (link is at the bottom of every forum page, bold italic emphasis added by me, and yes, these terms were in place on the 'old' forum).....

User Content

By posting content on the Application you warrant that you are the creator and owner of the posted content, or that you have obtained prior written consent to post said content from a third party owner. When posting content originating from any third party, you agree to conspicuously post the name of said third party adjacent to said posted content. By posting content on the Application, you also grant, and warrant that you have the authority to grant, RV LIFE a limited license to display, reproduce, modify, and use any text, image, video, music, or any other content that you post on the Application.
....
When you share, post, or upload content that is covered by intellectual property rights on or in connection with our Application, you grant us a non-exclusive, transferable, sub-licensable, royalty-free, and worldwide license to host, use, distribute, modify, run, copy, publicly perform or display, translate, and create derivative works of your content.
Seems pretty clear and easy, you can retain control of your creative work: if you don't want something used by RV Life, don't post it on the forum; but, if you do post, it's fair-game for use by RV Life as delineated in the above.

Janet, I reloaded my avatar because it was badly cropped and it still ended up being cropped. Is there any way that the image can be widened, or do I need to edit to be square?

Ahh.... the fine print. The part that most people don't read, but should be aware of when posting photos. My bad, carry on.

Just another note of thanks to the Site Team as I see refinements continue to be implemented. I suppose that's a normal / expected part of such a transition, just wanted to acknowledge that ongoing effort.

Glad to see that the New posts page now defaults to show only unread threads, that's the perfect browser bookmark 'landing page' for me.

With great appreciation, I hope y'all get some time-off this weekend at least! :hail:

Avatars are square You'll need to edit your base image to look nice in that format. If you need a hand, load up the image in a post and I can take a crack at making adjustments.

This software has been in use on RVForum for a couple of years. (same folks own it as RV Life) and while there is a learning curve, and a couple of things are missing from the software that I made good use of, number one being an index of all attachments I have uploaded) the software is still way better than the old stuff.

The like button is quite handy, if someone answers a question and you would have posted basically the same thing, its easy to LIKE it rather than type a post. If someone sees a bunch of likes on a post, you know that post is on the right track.

My signature didn't carry over, but I copied it from RV Forum and then pasted it here.

My avatar is also pixelated and cropped, will have to fix that. Edit: replaced with pic from Mount Pisgah NC site A32 (my favorite)

I'm amused that someone snagged this pic of my rig and turned it into the site-wide banner with some photochopping...

That was taken at the dump station at the local Elks Lodge late last year right after I bought the Expedition, but before I swapped the wheels from the 22's to 18's in prep for our extended Mexico adventure.

current side-wide banner I'm seeing...

I like the real background better in your pic. Now that you shared more about the pic it is embedded in my brain. Seems as it it is relieving Itself by the tree. 🤭

Having the trailer model & year noted below the avatar was useful when offering advice. Can that still be done?
I ADDED year & model in my personal Avatar... I found that in your 'ACCOUNT DETAILS' page, you can add your trailer model & year in the 'LOCATION' field & it will display there, you can also add the STATE you're from.

I agree with John that model & year is most useful when reading the info or advice posted to see quickly if it's related to your specific trailer model/year.

I filled out several fields in "Account Details", including "Custom Title" with my trailer and vehicle information. Saving to see what it shows. (Preview button does nothing for me - possibly my ad blocker is stopping it.)

Edit: Yup! Custom Title shows up on the left but gets cut off.

Why is this a mandatory field in account details? Is it some sort of 'bot" filter?

This has been fixed. The new software doesn't allow duplicate display names and some fancy footwork behind the scene is needed to make an update. Yours has been fixed.
Janet, would you mind fixing mine also? TIA.

Hi Janet
One thing I miss from the old software is a persons province/state in the information under their avatar. I found it very useful to not only see a persons city or town but to see what part of the continent they are from. I don't always recognize the location of smaller places.
Lyle I just noticed that in most cases if you click on the location on someone's profile, a google maps window opens showing the location. One exception I found was on one member's location being the name of county but google maps opened to a county not in the member's state.

That's a cool feature!
