How to pick up the new messages?

Coming back to this thread, I could:
  • click on the title to go to the beginning
  • Click on "Today" (or the date) on the right to go to the end.
  • click on a page number to go to the top of that page of replies
Where do I click to pick up just the new ones since I last read? The new replies are labeled "NEW", but I have to scroll and page around to find the first one.

Lyle I just noticed that in most cases if you click on the location on someone's profile, a google maps window opens showing the location. One exception I found was on one member's location being the name of county but google maps opened to a county not in the member's state.
Your "emerson" link brings up everything named "emerson" in MY metro area. Probably because you didn't add a state!

For me it works the same as the previous version: if I'm logged in when I'm reading a post and logged in when I return to that thread, the software remembers where I'd left off and takes me to the latest unread post.
FYI, I check the Remember Me box at log-in and never log out so when I return to the forum I'm already logged in.

I guess I am the black sheep here. My avatar is cropped badly, even though I uploaded a new file. My member name and signature is missing from under the avatar. What am I doing wrong?

Edit, when I posted this, my signature showed up. But my avatar photo is still cropped.

I am enjoying the responsiveness and functionality of the new site. Thank you for all of your efforts.

Has there been any thought to changing the page size from 20 to a higher fixed or user-chosen value?

The main time I stumble on this is when I'm reading new posts in a thread, and to remember the context I need to go to the previous page and then scroll down to the bottom. With my attention deficit, by the time I get there, I've usually forgotten why I wanted to go back. ha ha.

I thought about suggesting that you always see the last <n> posts on a single page when looking at the end of a thread, but I think that might get too confusing.

Definitely some merit in that. Especially when some folks jump in with a post that indicates that they haven't read any of the previous posts.

Fair enough, I'm starting my own campaign in my signature block to encourage members to do this ...

EDIT - I changed my sig-block to link to the page for members to edit their own signature block ;)

Thanks again for all of the efforts to improve the forum!
I agree!
1. Thank you for all the work that goes into keeping this forum operating!!
2. Immediately missed seeing the trailer model & year noted below the avatar. While I appreciate everyone’s input, that extra bit of info was a very useful piece for added perspective.

Please add your rig info to your signature for now. Adding it to the location field means that the members list can't be used to find other owners in your area (via the member search function). Still working on this issue.

As noted earlier - you can update your display name (once). If you need a hand with this, please let me know, I can help with goofs, edits and advice :)

That never worked in old or new. I click on the thread title, and it takes me to the first post. Yes, I'm logged in.

In the old forum, there was a right chevron icon (>) on the mobile version, touching that took me where I left off. There was some other dedicated thing to click on desktop - I forget what it was.

As I said in my first reply, the system flags new messages with a red "New" badge, but I have to scroll around to find the first one.

Is there a navigation guide for this site? "Help" only lists three topics... And "Search" searches posts (like in former forum site)... Maybe a "User Guide"?
In reading people's posts I'm seeing things referred to which I am unable to find.
Ex: "Adding it to the location field means that the members list can't be used to find other owners in your area (via the member search function)." Where can I find the "Members List"?

I've read through the thread: Forums 101 - posting, accounts, basics and loved all the info. Beyond that,
I've been poking around, looking to learn what is available, with limited success.

well, the list of all members runs about 3500 pages of around 20 or 30 per page, not very useful. Its available via Members -> Registered Members.

Well… apparently it’s searchable by location…and I don’t know what else…
But… I’m not seeing “ members” as a selection option on the site. I apparently don’t know where to find some basics…? Thus why I am wondering re a “user guide”, or some such…?
