Fridge Size

Ignoring the door, the inside measures approx. 21 1/4" wide and 7 1/8" tall.

Given that, did you know that broccoli cooked in a microwave loses much of its nutrients? Same with other vegetables. Not that I eat vegetables...

Thank you!

Re: Fridge Size / Microwave

Probably should think about why you need a microwave. We have one at home and use it to re-heat left-overs once in a while. I use it to make popcorn, and that's about it. When camping, you have all the time in the world and making dinner is part of the experience. Lots of time to play with BBQ and Dutch Oven recipes.
But, don't mind me - Your Mileage May Vary as Donna likes to say.

Baglo,

Exactly what we have been discussing. Mary says that with the number of times we actually used the microwave that it is no contest to get the larger fridge. We have a huge garden and put away tons of produce each year - so when we leave on a trip the fridge is usually crammed full of home grown foods. My favorite thing about the microwave is popcorn is so easy in it but even that we rarely do.

Hi: All... Our micro. is installed on the top shelf inside the pantry and stays plugged in all the time. Takes up no counter space that way. For most meals we nuke two well scrubbed baking potatos till they're done, cover and then when the BBQ's ready to cook the steak/etc. coat the potatos with zesty Italian dressing(Reg. not lo fat) and place on the grille with the meat. Turn to brown evenly or blacken if you like and when the meat is ready so's the potatos. MMMMMM. Alf p.s. the skin's the best part

Dan, I too used one of those type poppers. Once you get used to the good taste of the popcorn from one of them, and your control over what you add, microwave popcorn tastes not so good at all.

Popcorn? I just use a pot on the stove. No need to carry an extra popper, and much, much cheaper than microwave. Downside is a bit more oil on your popcorn, and you have to scrub oil residue from the mottom of your pot.

Storage is so precious in a little trailer that I would not have a microwave. Still wish I had a conventional oven, though.

I would not take a popper like that in the trailer. I use one of those mesh basket things that you grill over the coals of a fire with. I works great. Warm up a tad of butter in a tin cup sitting beside the fire, and all's good. :)

Doesn't looked strayed to me : - ) All these are pertinent issues for someone trying to figure just what sized frig he really needs! Is the space over the frig large enough for a microwave, or do I REALLY want a Whirly-Pop instead? Item #2 by the way is MUCH cheaper and works when you are boondocking!
Well, OK, maybe a little strayed........

Not if you keep your popcorn in the fridge...

Hi: Patjul... The 5cu.ft. fridge in "Our Escape Hatch" 5.0 is Dometic RM2510. I think this is the 5 cu. ft. model in current use by Escape. Alf

Pat, I think the one you listed is about almost 2" too big to fit through the door opening. The RM2510 Escape uses is only 21 7/8" wide.
