Galley storage in a 17b? What do you do?

So far I've just thrown things in but it isn't very efficient. (There are three cabinets- one not quite shown under the furnace, one under the sink, and one farther under the sink.)

The one under the furnace is larger but more awkward so I'm most interested in what you do there.

17A and the kitchen is identical...

Right under the sink is where I keep the dish-washing tub, drying rack, soap bottle and brush. Next cupboard down is the one cooking pot I bring, plus kettle (electric or stovetop depending on where we go). Cupboard under the heater is for a small waste basket plus I toss any recyclables in there as we go. Top drawer is silverware and cooking tools, bottom drawer is like the home "junk drawer" but also the most important things go in there like flashlights and first aid so we can find them fast.

Maybe not.. picture on the website looks bigger! The ones in my 15A were generously sized but I had no sink, either.

My husband built a little shelf in the front left of the cupboard under the heater(over a pipe?). The pipe was just in the way. There is so much room in there! I have my Omnia oven wedged in the back left corner with a sauce pan on the right. In front of that a frying pan fits. On the little shelf I have a nice big salad bowl that my tea kettle fits into. If I get it all in just right, I can fit in a dish strainer and tray on top.

Howard also put a little strip of wood in the cupboard under the sink that keeps taller items in place.
Like Small but Sweet, I put a dish pan in there, but I store bread and soft things there.

Shelf is a good idea. Lots of room but not so amenable to finding things! So far mine has been mostly wasted space.

Hi Bobbi,
Just forward of my stove I had a hanging locker that I put sliding extention shelving. Here at top shelf I keep my toiletries , next three shelves down hold various food stores and bottom shelf has my pots and pans. Very lowest cabinet is still a bit of a catch all. I do have a 17A and perhaps your B model doesn't have this locker. What I don't have are clothes that need to be hung up. I'm also eyeballing my microwave cabinet .... since it is a large space ... high up ... it may become a storage cabinet for dry goods.

Any one know where I could find a replacement micro plate? Mine thought it was a frisbee and it wasn't.

Yep, no locker. Though I mostly did not use the one in the 15A for clothes anyway.

Below the sink, I use a small plastic wash tub some small rectangular buckets which fill in the space great. Keeps things sorted. I put in a cedar "rail" to hold the small items in the storage below and the one below the fridge. I custom built a cedar box to fit into the storage area on the floor to the right. Helps keep things in place as well as protecting the plumbing along the back wall.

Back at figuring this out. I'm giving up the short cabinet under the sink (below the big one) to hold the dog's water dish so it is out of the way. (Taking the door off.) So for now I moved a few cans that were there to the under-furnace cabinet. But I need to go back to getting that organized. Ideally I want containers I can remove easily as where it is makes getting down to find things pretty awkward, but the ones I originally bought do not fit the space. Any new ideas before I get to inventing?

I like the shelf idea- I wonder if I could divide the space up to make organizing it and finding things easier.
