Gas line replacement from regulator to tanks

We need to replace the gas lines from the LP regulator to the tanks. The current line is 12" long and is cracked severely where the line curves to the tank. Wondering if a 20" line would be better to help with the curve in the line - maybe give it a little more slack?

My lines are longer than I wish, and lower quality than I wish, but they have reusable right angle connections. I can have short higher quality replacement ones made and reuse the ends when the time comes. I used 20" s/s lines as replacements. They also have gages. It was difficult to position them. The extra length didn't help. Maybe adding 90* fittings might have helped. I'd stick with the original length in s/s.

Get some decent cylinder to regulator hoses, not the cheap China crap. You can get 15 inch ones that work well under a plastic tank cover but are not bent too tight. I recommend the ones with braided stainless on the outside, from Marshall Excelsior or MB Sturgis. These will be USA made in both cases, from US materials.

Catalog page 15 (PDF page 17) and the next couple of pages are the pigtails. You have a choice of reverse flair and 1/4 pipe thread ends, depending on whether you have the brass adapters or not, in the regulator.

Hose with gauge will always show constant pressure until the tank is empty, total waste of money, don't buy that crap, that is why ME and Sturgis do not sell them.

The short hoses that ETI installed on my 2015 5.0TA which has a propane storage compartment required the tank connections to face the inner wall of the compartment, making it inconvenient at best to attach and detach them. I replaced both of them wit 24-inch braided stainless steel hoses and routed them around to the front. This reduced sharp bends and made connecting and disconnecting them much easier. It is my belief that replacement decisions are related to where the propane tanks are located. What I mean is that 24-inch hoses would not “improve” anything when the tanks are in a molded storage box commonly opted for on Escape’s bumper pull trailers.
