GVWR on trailer sticker

Phone Escape trailers . The axle is sprung to the Escape spec . This gives the ability to adjust
for your trailer weight for optimal suspension ride plus gives you larger axle and bearings rated to 3500 lbs. .
 
The Dexter Torflex #10 axles assemblies rated at less than 3500 pounds have shorter rubber elements in them to make the springing softer and so better suited to a lighter trailer; the rest of the components are the same as if it had a 3500 pound rating. This can only be done at the factory; the buyer just orders the rating desired, in 200 pound increments if I recall correctly.

While Escape uses the Torflex #10 for all current and recent models, they are in at least three widths so even if they were all rated at 3500 pounds (and they might be, now) they're not interchangeable. It's not difficult to buy the right number of the right axles for the planned production.
 
Thanks John - that is what I was figuring. Just odd to me that the trailer frame is significantly derated.

Older Escape trailers had a lighter duty frame that had cracking issues and were recalled for reinforcement. So it's not odd at all that the current frame isn't marginal for the load.

I'm curious. People often blot out the VIN on pictures of the sticker. What would somebody do with that information? What's to stop somebody from walking around a RV park ( or dealership ) taking photos of stickers, since they are affixed to the outside of the trailer?

3" Frame Recall on 15', 17' & 19' Escape Trailers

To Whom it May Concern,

Escape Trailer Industries is announcing a recall on the trailer frames manufactured for the 15’, 17’, and 19’ Escape Travel Trailers between 2009 and 2014. This recall pertains to all 3” frames with a welded joint where the A-frame meets the chassis rails. (Please see Fig A.)

CONCERN
Certain trailer frames may have been manufactured with a weak weld at the joint where the A-frame joins to the chassis rails. Prolonged flexing on a weak joint can cause a failure at this point.

SOLUTION
An additional mending plate is required to strengthen the joint on the 15’, 17’ and 19’ Escape Trailer Frames. The 19’ Escape will also require two additional attachment points installed to bolt the body to the frame. (Please see Fig B. and C.)
