In the market for a small trailer and after looking and researching and reading forums it appears that fiberglass is the way to go and right now the Escape and Casita are neck n neck. I was hoping I could find someone close so I could take a look inside before making a trip to a factory.
I love reading about all the modifications folks have done to their tt there are some very clever and talented people out there.
Hopefully this time next year i'll be posting pictures of my new tt.

Welcome, Marion. There should be someone in your region, depending on which model you want to see. No need to go to the factory in advance or even when you buy. Many have bought Escapes without going that distance.

Contact Escape Trailer Industries. Their contact info is on their website. Tammy will be able to refer you to an Escape owner in your area.
 
We will be on Lake Lanier near Gainsville, GA (looks like about a four hour drive for you) October 23, 24, 25, and 26. We will have an Escape 21 and a 2009 Casita camping there. If you have any interest in seeing our trailers let me know.
 
Hi Marion,
We have a 19' Escape and live in northeast MS, about 6 hours from you. We plan on being at the Open Pond Recreation Area in the Conecuh NF the 1st week of November. Looks like that's less than 100 miles from your location.
 
We were serious about purchasing a Casita and visited a rally this year to decide which Casita model. After seeing a couple of Escapes at the rally, for us there was really no decision. We placed a deposit on the Escape the next week.

For us it was primarily the layout and size. We much preferred the layout of the Escape 19 vs the Casita 17. The ability to have a full time bed, plus a dinette. We ended up going with an Escape 21 due to the bed layout and not having to crawl over each other. The slightly wider width and longer length were also plus's.

We liked the soft headliner used by Escape vs the marine carpet headliner used by Casita. Also that the number of options and the almost unlimited number of custom features offered by Escape. The downside was the lead-time, the distance to the factory, and price. For us, these were more than acceptable to get the exact unit that we wanted.

I too don't like the idea of being surrounded by carpet and I've noticed the escape has a few standard features that are options on the casita.
Since it's just me and my dogs (2 shih tzu) I'm leaning towards the 17.
But I'm enjoying the research and reading what everyone has to say and have done to theirs.

My wife and I visited the Casita factory. We thought that the Casita would be OK, but weren't thrilled. When we asked about having the factory "change out" the incandescent bulbs with LED, we were told that we could do that ourselves after we got the trailer. That didn't make a lot of sense to us. After the Casita, we considered the Scamp & the Egg. Once we found the Escape forum and the passion by both the owners & ETI, there was no looking back. We saw our first Escape in a rally in TN. Within a week, we had purchased the tow vehicle and within another 10 days we had placed our down payment on the Escape 19. We took delivery 1 year later and have no second thoughts as this was the perfect decision for us!

Thanks for the info I agree you don't want to make this type of an investment feeling it'll be just ok. I want to love it!!
Also, what is your tow vehicle? I have a 2014 nissan pathfinder

Still dont remember exactly how we found Escape- probably FiberglassRV.com. For a single traveler with pooches the 17B could be ideal. Loved that recent used one for sale that had the longer bench in the front dinette rather than wardrobe closet. Our 17 was 3 years old when we bought it and wouldn't be afraid to buy one used.

I saw that too yes it is a good idea.
I've been keeping my eye out but darn they go so quick. I just need to pull the trigger when I see one that has what I want..
