Hello!

My daily driver since 1991 has been a truck.. I'm a home owner, how does anyone transport yard debris, gravel and manure without a truck?
We use a utility trailer, towed by the same vehicle which tows the travel trailer. If a tug can pull two tons of travel trailer, it can pull a utility trailer carrying more than any F-150 / Ram 1500 / GM 1500 can handle... and with a lower loading height, and not in a box immediately adjacent to the rear window of the cab.

In addition to owning a utility trailer, trailers can be rented as needed, particularly if one wants a different style (such as a car carrier, enclosed cargo trailer, or dump trailer). Other options include delivery, rented vehicles, and borrowed vehicles.

Carrying the sort of cargo listed above is not a reason to need a truck. Many people choose to use pickup trucks for this anyway, and that's fine - it's their choice. We had a pickup truck - I don't miss it.

I'm surrounded by people with pickup trucks; every house in the subdivision has other vehicles as well, but all (or nearly all) of them have pickup trucks. I rarely see any of them carrying anything in them; it seems to be a style choice more than anything, and that's one reason that most pickup owners are fine with those miniature boxes - they don't use the box for much anyway.

Fellow I know won't let his wife ( my sister-in-law ) put her bicycle, or anything else in the bed of his new truck. ;D

All I am gonna say: welcome to the Escape clan! My suggestion: Which one you decide on, make it a family matter. Kids included. That will make it all so much more joyable on your future family outings. Just keep in mind that soon your kids are going to be teenagers, and your traveling might be different from now. Best wishes for you and your family!

Several years ago I bought a Honda CR-V, thinking I'd eventually buy a Class C motorhome and pull the Honda behind it. Soon I realized that I was the only male driver of a CR-V in my county.

From now on I will drive a pickup, whether I need it or not.

I bought a Miata. After a while I became tired of the hairdresser jokes so I modified it slightly.

Back to the OP's topic-- The 21 has a *lot* of storage, much more than I need as a single person. I'm able to live in the thing for months on end with no problems regarding having places to put things; for instance, the big closet next to the fridge is currently empty. The larger bathroom is a plus as one can shower and dry off with a towel without having to step outside the bathroom.

The downside is that the bed is an odd shape and wedged in a corner. This makes it hard to make the bed. Fitted sheet, flat sheet-- it doesn't matter; it's a struggle. Also, I think the 19 is a better-looking trailer due to its proportions, but that's just me.

My wife changes the sheets
I drive the streets
We've owned both the 19 and the 21
You can't go wrong with either one

Same here, wife changes the sheets. Have not owned a 19 but currently have a 21. Wife won’t climb over me in the night to use the washroom. Dam.
