Hello from Manitoba. Looking at an Escape 5.0. Currently own a 2005 5th. Looking at New trailers and it seems like they did not improve in quality. We bought ours used and have had a bad experience with the machine, but love camping with the family. So I am looking at alternatives to dragging a cardboard box through the rain. Looks like there is a lot of knowledge on this forum and I am looking forward to tapping into it.Our main concern is size. Going down from 29' might be a challenge with 2 energetic kids on a rainy night.

Welcome to the forum! Be sure to look at some Escape fifth-wheels in person to make sure you're going in the right direction. And always keep in mind that those energetic kids grow up mighty fast...before you know it, they're out the door in their very own tent.

I'd suggest you contact Escape to see if they can put you in touch with an owner in your area. Spending some time inside one is the only way to determine if it's going to meet your needs.

I wouldn't worry too much about size. These Escape 's are quite roomy due to their design and layout. It sure fits four, even on rainy days. And you all will stay dry!!!

That's definitely one of the major selling points of a molded fiberglass trailer. It's essentially a one piece shell, which means nowhere for water to get in except through an improperly sealed vent or window. Properly sealed and maintained, a molded fiberglass trailer will outlive it's owner and still be sound.

One other huge factor is resale value. Pull the average stick built trailer off the lot and watch it depreciate by 30 percent. On the other hand, I could sell my 2015 Escape for basically what I paid for it. They just last, and the resale value reflects that.

Welcome! Recently joined the forum also after lurking around for some time. We have a 5.0 on order now. Before making our big decision we took a trip to the factory and went over the 21' & 5.0 took measurements and kicked the tires. We originally leaned towards the 21' but the more research I did the more I felt the 5.0 was the best fit for us.

Welcome to the site, Marc André, you have your sights set i the right direction. I like your cardboard box analogy, a bit of a stretch with a ring of truth.

My first thought was you were looking used until I read new, as there was a previous fifth wheel single axle Escape, the 5.0. The new tandem axle is the 5.0TA. Not a huge deal, but does identify things easier, at least for me.

Bill I think Marc Andre may be all set to see a 5.0TA. I PM'd a Winnipeg owner of one who looked at our trailer before they ordered and she was planning to contact him.

Our 5.0TA fits the 3 of us (The wife ,90 lb dog,and me ) just fine. You coming from a 29' will definitely not have as much room, especially if you have pop outs. The queen bed is really comfortable and surprisingly the dinette converts to a reasonably comfortable double bed. I've slept in it so know first hand.
The trailer tows great behind my F150. It fits in sites that would not work for most fifth wheels and I can park it in my driveway. The build quality IMHO is way ahead of most of competition.
