Hi everyone, I'm a newbie here! I'm really happy to be a part of yours! Hope to have more new friends and learn useful things from your posts! Thanks for creating a "corner" for us to share and talk!

Hi Shaneyward:

Most of us on this site like to "share and talk" about Escape travel trailers. As your initial post does not reference anything to do with micro-RVing, camping, dreaming about fiberglass RVs (Escape in particular) it is difficult to begin a meaningful dialogue.

Please let us know what your interests in Escape travel trailers is or do you just want to have a "corner to share and talk" about random $tuff.

Please inform us of your opinion on various subjects, like: how best to hang a new coathook; or, optimal fuel octane rating for a tow vehicle, how to loose your "newbie" status safely and still be respected in the morning, etc. Those would be good conversation starters.

cheers,
G

I think I met you in many other forums. This is a great forum. I have felt it.
Welcome to the forum !!! :)

On a dark desert highway, cool wind in my hair
Warm smell of colitas, rising up through the air
Up ahead in the distance, I saw a shimmering light
My head grew heavy and my sight grew dim
I had to stop for the night
There she stood in the doorway;
I heard the mission bell
And I was thinking to myself,
’this could be heaven or this could be ****’
Then she lit up a candle and she showed me the way
There were voices down the corridor,
I thought I heard them say...

Welcome to the hotel california
Such a lovely place
Such a lovely face
Plenty of room at the hotel california
Any time of year, you can find it here

Last thing I remember, I was
Running for the door
I had to find the passage back
To the place I was before
’relax,’ said the night man,
We are programmed to receive.
You can checkout any time you like,
But you can never leave!

Somebody ban this 'bot before the spamfest begins:

I have driven the Alaska Highway many times since I first drove it in 1958, the surface of the highway has improved considerably in the time in between, but one thing has not changed from the beginning.

Winding in, Then winding out, Fills my mind with serious doubt!

Was the fellow, who built this route?

Going to ****,

Or coming out?

An old comment on the road.

I agree: nuke the 'bots

What are the forum "rules" regarding creepers, lurkers, 'bots, ESL students looking to hone skills?

This is a prime example of why you should never, ever put your contact information where it's visible on the WWW. No e-mail addys and certainly no phone numbers. Use the tools on a forum to communicate directly such as PMs or e-mail through a profile!

Nothing I can do. I don't have the power.

But, I'm curious about the uproar. I have always had my email address listed under my profile on the forum and I have received no spam as a result.
The forum isn't being inundated with posts. In fact this newbie thread is just about the only one that's active.

What am I missing?

Baglo,

Ever heard Warren Zevon's take on Hotel California?

Desperados Under The Eaves

I was sitting in the Hollywood Hawaiian Hotel
I was staring in my empty coffee cup
I was thinking that the gypsy wasn't lyin'
All the salty margaritas in Los Angeles
I'm gonna drink 'em up

And if California slides into the ocean
Like the mystics and statistics say it will
I predict this motel will be standing until I pay my bill

Don't the sun look angry through the trees
Don't the trees look like crucified thieves
Don't you feel like Desperados under the eaves
Heaven help the one who leaves

Still waking up in the mornings with shaking hands
And I'm trying to find a girl who understands me
But except in dreams you're never really free
Don't the sun look angry at me

I was sitting in the Hollywood Hawaiian Hotel
I was listening to the air conditioner hum
It went mmmmmm..
........................... Look
away..........................................
(Look away down Gower Avenue, Look away....)

Really? I don't think we have either the time, or the bandwidth, to fully cover this issue. ;D

I too have listed both my phone number and email address on various forums. If someone wants to find that info, it would not be too hard anyway.

Congrats Jim,

Your post makes it a tie between the posts we're discussing and and the response to the posts. And this one takes us into the lead.
Go Green Bay....

Baglo, your status is actually currently Hidden, on your profile page here. You may be seeing it as the profile owner, but we (and hopefully the Shaneyward 'bot) do not. or maybe you recently changed it?

Sometimes they register to post spam, weeks later Sometimes they register to spider email addresses and phone numbers. Sometimes they register to try to exploit bugs in the forum software, injecting php or mysql code into the post and trying to get the server to execute it or reveal passwords.

Regards,

Matt

There are bots running the WWW who's sole purpose is to harvest phone numbers and e-mail addresses. The bots require NO human intervention to run. The developers of the bots in turn sell the phone numbers and e-mail addresses to spammers. The next time you get a phone call during the dinner hour from someone trying to sell you something.... remember how they may have gotten the phone number. With technology constantly advancing, it's doubtful it's going to get better. Once on the web, it's there forever.

It's always best to use the PM feature to pass on info..

Hi: JeffZ...and thanks for the reminder !!! Also for purging those who don't seem ever likely to embrace our style of camping on our side of the pond. I hope this is taken in the nicest of ways too!!! Alf
