November 21, we picked up our new Escape 19! It was an exciting day, and Dave, Reace and Tammy did a great job of orientation, and touring the plant where all these quality units evolve. They really care about the products they manufacture, and that gives me a lot of confidence in our trailer.
Our first stop down the road to pick up a coffee, a complete stranger comes up and asks to have a "peak" in the trailer and ask a few questions (now that we are "experts"). During the following week as we toured WA and OR on our way home, we were approached by quite a number of people who really liked what they saw, so that gives us a good feeling that we made a good decision.
It has been good. It sleeps good. It tows beautifully behind our Tacoma--mileage has gone from about 23 mpg to 15, and the only time you realize it's back there is when you go up a hill or over a rough stretch of highway.
I was a little apprehensive pulling it back to Alberta in the winter, but with the way it tows, and the good road conditions, we had absolutely nothing to worry about. So that was great!
Another neat thing happened to us on our way home....we pulled into an RV campground in Missoula, MT and lo and behold, next stall to us was an identical Escape 19! We were as anxious to meet the owners as they were to meet us. We found out their 19 was hatched a few days after ours, and was on it's way to St. Louis, MO. That was a lot of fun to meet some new folks in this growing Escape family..
So all in all, it's been a great opening chapter in our Escape story, and we can't wait to hit the road again next year, and see what unfolds.
