We picked up our Escape 21 on 7/31. That day we drove and ferried to Fort Worden SP. We spent 3 full days at Fort Worden. Toured Seattle and part of the Olympic NP. Unfortunately there was so much smoke in the air that any vistas were hidden. On 8/4 we then drove to Cascade Locks, OR. At a hamburger joint in Cascade Locks saw a 1st gen 21. On Saturday took a boat ride on the Columbia River. On Sunday we drove to Mt Hood. First time on a ski lift. Now comes the unfortunate part. Sunday night my DS (who is in the active reserves) received an email saying "you need to come in now". Seems as though his, and others in his unit, paper work for their Annual Training got lost in cyber space. So I had to drop him and his girlfriend off in Boise to take a plane home. My SIL and I continued on to Yellowstone. Yellowstone was great. 5 full days there. On to Grand Tetons NP for 3 full days. Took a raft trip down the Snake River, which was the best part of the whole trip. While in the Grand Tetons, met Ruth and Terry in their 1st gen 19. Then on to Cody. Toured the Buffalo Bill Museum. We were in Riverton for the Eclipse and then home.
Thoughts: My Escape 21 towed really well. Took a chance of not needing a W\D or a sway control. I knew that I could do without a W/D driving a F250HD and was very impressed on how well it towed. Love the wall lining inside. One concern was the water heater had problems lighting in Yellowstone, Grand Tetons, Cody and Riverton. It would boom when trying to light and most of the time fail to light. I thought the problem could be the altitude. Our last night before arriving home was in Abilene, TX. There the water heater worked perfectly. So it might have been the altitude? Arrived home (Austin) yesterday (8/24) with the news of Harvey. I have not downloaded any pictures from my camera yet as I have been busy preparing for Harvey.
Unimpressed with Fort Worden SP. Took a raft float trip in the Grand Tetons, which was great. The best part of our trip. Saw about 10 Casitas, 3 or 4 Scamps and a couple of other unknowns on our trip. I will be planning my next big trip for Niagara next year in September.
