My production queue number suggests early 2023. Placed deposit for a 5.0 TA in October 2021.
This will be my sixth RV purchase. I started with travel trailers and then progressed to 5th wheels.
I would like to have observations / experiences from those that tow with one-ton pickup trucks.
I will be towing the 5.0 TA with a 2018 RAM 3500, 4WD, SRW ,SHORTBED (6'4"), 6.7L CUMMINS DIESEL / AISIN TRANSMISSION. My 5th wheel hitch is a BW Companion.
I am concerned with my RAM's bedrail height. One of the 5.0 TA options I choose is the body lift kit. I plan on adjusting 5th wheel hitch to 4 inches behind the axle to allow more space for turning.
Every one of my new 5th wheel purchases ended up being taller. I decided to go to a lower height, shorter length, and less RV weight with the 5.0 TA. I really do not like towing in strong wind conditons, espcially crosswinds. Maybe the 5.0 TA will be more comfortable / ease of mind for me. I also hope to see a little improvment with towing MPG performance too.
