I have a small nest located in the horizontal notch between the retracted manual awning and the top of the door. I expect that a spray can of hornet-be-gone will include dire warnings about possible damage to anything which the spray contacts. Anyone had any issues with damage to the awning fabric caused by such sprays? Or should I just hit the nest with the garden hose from a distance, then run like heck?

Thank you.

Andrew.

Use the garden hose on a real Cool morning just as it’s getting light. Depending upon the Hornet species if the nest detaches and falls to the ground, just leave it there. The hornets will not come back to it and you can deal with it later in the day or that night. That’s is the nest is attached by a single small stem. If it’s plastered to the camper and firmly attached it will probably not be knocked down by a hose. Do not tangle with them on a hot sunny day in full light. They can see you and they are unionized so if you mess with one, you got them all. Read the label on anything you use. You may find some non staining, non damaging organic product if you search thoroughly. Sometimes local exterminators will sell to you with over the counter professional products.
