Well, in a totally uncharacteristic mood of 'Let's maintain the Escape' as opposed to just using it and cleaning the inside, I looked at the water heater thinking I would try to drain the water heater myself this year.
I found a very rusty looking plug at the bottom which I assume is the drain plug (it is 1 1/16"). And then, in reading the water heater doc that came with the trailer, I see that perhaps the anode should be replaced (hasn't been looked at in over 4 years).

So . . . . . where do I get replacement parts. I did look online a bit and one place seems to indicate that the anode and the plug are one piece - but the schematic for the water heater doesn't make that clear. I can find anodes for the SW6D but nothing called a drain plug.

This is the first of probably several questions on how to take care of my egg - I've already taken notes on the other posts for awning maintenance.

Have you looked at the video under Documents and Useful Stuff. At the end is a bit on winterizing your Escape and about the anode. Doesn't say where to get a replacement, but I suspect any RV dealer with a parts department.

Anode Rod for Suburban RV water heater

I was in the same boat. While I am in Canada, my quickest online fix was here:
http://www.marksrv.com/swwaterheater.htm

There were in the US and I got dinged with UPS handling and taxes.

$17.50 I had a couple of other pieces I needed, so it worked for me.

Hope this helps.

ps: the packaging on the rod listed this site: www.rvcomfort.com
