Houghton 9500 BTU with Optional HEAT PUMP!

I see that the Houghton 2801 is available with a heat pump option for $100 more. In reading all the posts it seems that this model did not have a heat pump. I questioned Recpro if it is a true heat pump or just a heating strip. The customer service person was totally useless, and left me with no confidence.
Has anyone bought one of these with the option and can confirm that it is a heat pump for heating? Thanks.

Considering previously it did not say there was a heat pump I'm guessing there is- but i'd ask the company directly

Update. The tech at Recpro responded to my email that it is definitely a heat pump and not a heat strip. A different customer service person said that it is not on Houghton's site because Recpro install it themselves.
I have not heard back from Houghton themselves, but given the above I ordered it today.

On the RecPro web site there is an option of adding the heat pump to the 2801 for another $100.

I have a 3400 which is a heat pump. I figure that if I'm at a place with shore power, why use the propane. Kind of a economic thing for me. Plus saves the propane for boon docking.

Update. I installed the Houghton 2800 which is the heat pump version. I can confirm that it is a real heat pump and that it works very well both in AC and Heat. I am so glad to have the "wind turbine" Dometic gone.

I wonder if this is something that can be done after the install. My thought it is a reversing valve that probably has to be sweated in?

I called them and at this time there is no retro fit kit available at the moment. Once production get up n going good they are going to look at making a kit availability

Just ordered the RecPro (Houghton) 9.5K AC unit with heat pump. The heat pump option had been out of stock for a while but came back in stock a month or two ago. RecPro is currently having a Halloween sale (10% off site wide using "SPOOKY10") through 11/1/24, so that just sweetened the deal.
