This is for information only. We WILL NOT be discussing politics. I'm keeping an eye out for any information regarding the reverse for those of us coming from the US into Canada. It may impact my Alaska plans. (Currently, U.S. citizens are not required to provide forms or equivalent types of identification to Canadian authorities upon entry into Canada. That could change if Canada retaliates against the new measures.)

Thanks for posting, Donna, I was unaware of this aspect of the fluctuating border relations situation.

I'll keep my fingers crossed in hope that this stuff will not be an impediment for folks participating in the ETI rally, your Alaska venture, or having other cross-border travel plans.

🤞

Canadians will likely reciprocate. Our plans this Fall for a Nova
Scotia visit have now become murky.

Who knows, we may be stuck there in the middle of an international, land grab conflict.
Sorry. My opinion is, all policy is politics, and vice-versa.

I really, really respect the people on this forum.

I’m feeling very ignorant about what’s going on and have mostly lost faith in mainstream media, and never had any faith in social media sites.

If you’re willing, could you PM me with a link or two to non-hysterical, reasoned commentary sites about the current state of the US federal government domestic and international actions, plans and motivations.

Thank you good people.

I realize this is semi-political. Please delete if it’s inappropriate.

I suggest you subscribe to Ground News. It’s a site that does not publish any articles themselves, but they offer multiple articles from different sources for each subject and indicate how factual the article is, and they indicate whether each article’s source is right, left or center leaning. I paid $29.99 for an annual ground.news subscription for their base level service.

I saw a news report today in Arizona saying Mexico is now requiring Americans entering Mexico will need to complete the Visitor Visa form to enter Mexico. The lines at the border crossing were 3 hours long because people didn't know this was now being enforced. I believe the cost is $30. They said the form is available on line and can be completed and paid for in advance. Then you present the form and your passport to enter Mexico without the long wait.

The following link will take you to the US Government website that details the new entry regulations for non US citizens entering the US.

An FMM has always been required once away from the border zone. Many US hard core Baja types will brag that they never get a FMM and since it's basically never asked for they don't worry too much. However without one you're in Mexico illegally and if you have a car accident your day won't improve, neither will your insurance coverage.

I think the current price is 717 pesos, not a big deal, at least not for me to have peace of mind.
