How Do I Partially Quote in a Reply?

The Tapatalk app has been updated and there is one change I don't like.

Often you want to quote a previous post but only quote part of it. The previous version of the Android app allowed you to edit between the quotes and also to see the quote tags.

The new version appears to be "dumbed down" so these features no longer appear.

Not having the ability to "selectively" quote in a reply and not quote the entire post is a major flaw.

Is there a way to do this in the updated app?

Right now it's doing the same to me Glenn. If I can't partially quote, I can't use it and will uninstall.

I'm constantly amazed when they release a "new and improved" version of an app that actually breaks something that worked fine.

Do you mean like this?

I just clicked on the edit box to the right of your post to open it for editing. Doesn't seem any different than before.

I really like Tapatalk, and prefer using it on a few different forums. I love the simple interface even better than the PC version.

The edit box is no longer there. But, I just figured it out. They added a little symbol with two vertical lines and an arrow along the lower tool bar. You have to click on that to get the editable quote to show up. Sheesh.

So do mine. I should probably disable that, but working in IT security I get in the habit of updating everything because some updates are security related.

It is irritating when an entire quote that's a full screen down gets copied and pasted above a simple two line response.

I too prefer a more concise quote, which when edited actually shows the part of the quoted post your comment refers too. It makes things way harder to read and follow when you have to go through a whole long post to figure out what small part is what is being responded to. But, that couple seconds might seem like an inconvenience to some. :)
