How do you clean the Maxx Fan

You remove the screen ( four tabs that turn ) and then unscrew the nut holding the fan on the motor. That gets most of the stuff out of your way, but I'd love to hear an easier way. After Al does his he can come over and do mine.

Remove the screen and then undo the nut that holds the fan on. Pull the fan off of motor and then there's enough room to put your hand thru to do some cleaning.

On my version the screen comes off by twisting the plastic hold downs out of the way. Then unscrew the 1/2” nut on the end of the shaft to remove the nut and washer. Then pull the fan blade straight down. That gives access to the underside of the cover.

When reinstalling the blade, note that there is a flat space on the shaft that has to align with a flat edge on the inside of the hub. Not easy to see at first.

Maybe someone knows how to get at it from above.

I have replaced my MaxxFann lid from the stock white to a smoke model, once attached and screwed it is not coming off.

I've also found that my wife's small wrists are a great advantage for doing things in tight spaces, but she doesn't hire out for cleaning!

Thanks All. I've just come home from celebrating my birthday. Thanks for your replies to my question. Glen...I'll send Donna over on Sunday to do your's if it works.

As mentioned, the screen comes off easily by twisting the four tabs and pulling it off. However, to remove my fan blade I am sure I used a small hex wrench to loosen a set screw allowing it to slide off the shaft. This left it wide open for cleaning, easy peasy, even for my big hands. A 5 minute operation.

Yep, mine is held on with a set screw too.

Did this chore today. Watch out for sharp edges! I sliced my wrist on some piece of metal while doing this. Pretty easy task though and it looks much better without dirt/mold.

So this is about a 2-3 year chore. I'm new to keeping trailers so I'm going to start a list after my first propane refill.......:)

Zombie thread resurrection!

I'm trying to clean my squeaky MaxxFan, but can't even remove the fan blades! Two 2.5mm Allen wrenches and some WD40, but the set screw just won't budge.

Suggestions?
