How long have you spent on the road (or staying in) in your 5.0?

A rolling stone....we're in Tucson, Az. now.
I'm curious how long people have spent on the road (or in one location) in their 5.0?

Is it a trailer to be considered for traveling the North American continent upon retirement or is it just to small for that? Just the two of us and our little Maltese, Molly.

I have the 10, not the 5.0, but the size is similar. I totally look forward to retiring and travelling to all reaches of the continent with it, with plans to be gone for months at a time. It has everything we need, and when you step out of the door, the 'living room' is absolutely immense.

There are thousands of people who travel in similar sized RV's upon retirement, and make out quite well.

We did a month long trip last summer in our 17B, with 2 boys, 7 and 9, and a German Shepherd dog. We never wished for more space. We head out this week to do it again. We also go spring skiing, when you spend more time inside in the evenings. No problem. It really depends on your philosophy and what you are used to. These trailers are really for people that are minimalists and choose quality over quantity. It is similar to living on a small sail boat in my view - not for everyone, but those who suit the lifestyle love it. We hope to use it even more when we retire. Someone once told me that the nicer your RV is on the inside, the more time you spend there! Ours is nice, but small, so we spend almost all our time outside!

The longest time we have spent in our 5.0, is the 2 1/2 weeks coming back from Chilliwack to Virginia. However, however long you stay out, it's totally dependent on your personalities. Do you need any personal space? Only one room (well, the second is quite small, but well fitted for specific uses), so if you need personal space, maybe not what you want long term. My wife and I need personal, quiet, uninterrupted time 1st thing in the AM....so she sits at the dining table, and I go outside. If it's too cold or hot (like last week in Indiana....88 degrees at 8:30 AM), I go sit in our other room....the truck! Got my books, a cup of coffee and quiet...and heat or cool if needed! Other than that, the 5.0 could be our home for quite a while.

If you need private space, there is nothing like a canoe.

Paddle out to the middle of the lake and then just let the wind take you where it will.

Sip your coffee, listen to the birds, fish rising, the rustle of leaves.

Watch the clouds float overhead, as long as they're not shouting at you.

Seven more shifts and I'm retired.

Hi: JCZ... So far we have done two week stretches. Going to do another last two weeks of Aug. back to the east coast. Next year we hope to take a three week trip west to B.C. and after 2013 much longer trips into retirement. We ordered the movie The Kings Speech to watch while away camping, and it's still in the wraper!!! Seems there's always something else to do. Alf

Hi,
Quite a long time ago ( really long ) ...the two of us spent 5 months in a 13 travel trailer (with the only convenience being a toilet - water/power ) for us it is easy to imagine spending many months in a unit as luxurious as the Escape 5.0 , these Escapes are just so well appointed and well put together ...... If one were so inclined full timing wouldn't be a stretch !

A little more than two months so far and counting, on our Alaska trip in our Escape 5.0. It will be almost two more months before we return home. We couldn't be more happy with the trailer. The size is just right and the layout is perfect for us.

We just returned home from Chilliwack after 28 days in our new 5.0.
With just two adults and good weather on most days, the 5.0 was just the right size for us.
The key is organization, housekeeeping, and less clutter inside.
Our friends in Colorado joined us three nights for dinner and cards inside and we were comfortable.
The great thing was we did not have to take the bed up to accommodate our visitors.

We picked up our new 5.0 this spring and headed down the coast to California on our way home to North Bay, Ontario, Canada. We spent 2 months in the trailer, moving to a new campground at least every 3rd day, and loved it. We move to our cottage for the summer so only use the trailer for those 2 months but plan on doing it every year.
Just the 2 of us. We had a VW camper van before so still don't know what to do with all the space in the 5.0 and our full-size Chevy Silverado.
