Several posts on this forum praise Napoleon’s portable TQ285 grill as a high quality product that will fit with legs folded in the front outside compartment of an Escape 5.0. Another feature of the grill is that it can be easily converted to operate from the low-pressure propane quick connect found on many Escapes.

The manual for the RV conversion kit is here:

The kit itself, Napoleon part # 66287 is shown here on Napoleon’s web site:

Here’s the conversion kit at Amazon:

The kit comes with the fitting and bracket shown in the manual that aren't shown in the pictures of the kit.

Note that installing the kit involves the removal of the propane regulator fastened to the side of the grill. Once the regulator is removed, it is no longer easy to connect a 1-pound propane bottle to the grill as originally designed. However it is fairly simple to add a supplemental quick disconnect (QD) to the removed Napoleon regulator to allow it to reconnect to the new hose on the conversion kit thereby allowing use of a portable propane canister. These QD kits are available on Amazon for $20-25. But be careful when ordering a QD. You need a dual male ended 1/4” NPT coupler. Some couplers come with dual 3/8” flare couplers, or 3/8” flare to 1/4” NPT even when the pictures show an NPT coupler. These other fittings won’t work, must be double NPT.

We have the TravelPro 285 (Blue) and really love it. It has been perfect from grilling steaks to roasting a whole chicken to making biscuits to cooking up breakfast.

I've toyed with the idea of converting ours but like the flexibility of being able to put it anywhere I want. Because I store it every night in the truck my tailgate and a folding table sure makes an ideal outdoor kitchen. : ))

Need to remember to keep this option in mind.

We are doing the same as you with a cheapo Costco BBQ and 1lb propane bottles. The advantage is put it anywhere, no hose to trip over, and easy to put back into the truck. Most of the sites we've stayed at in Canadian parks have a "Bare campsite" policy now (get it? Bare/Bear?) so you can't leave anything out that might attract animals.

Side note, since we added a griddle to our Napoleon, we find we use that nearly as often as the grill, and the half grill is plenty sufficient for anything the two of us are likely to bbq when camping

The griddle makes pretty good over easy eggs!!
