I have decided to pursue my dream and purchase a Shelby AC car. Something I have wanted since I was 18 years old and now that I can afford one,I have decided to get one. Now the decision is whether I should sell my new Escape 19' since I doubt I'll be using it as much as I like. Anybody else have competing interests like camping and boating or some other activity that competes with one another?

I have tons of interests, like photography and woodworking, plus work for me is very busy, and I hope to get in a couple more good years before I retire.

But nothing will take place of my retreating to the great outdoors, whether by ski, bike, foot or trailer. It is this getting away from the other pressures that really helps set my mind at ease.

I wouild agree . Our lifes are very busy, So any chance I can get in the mountains to get away from all that is great. In the summer with the trailer and in the winter with my snowmobile.

I think everyone has competing priorities. Long ago, I found that I was soaring (flying gliders) and participating in motorsports at the same time, and could not afford either the cost or the time for both; I decided to stay with the cars and leave the flying for later in life. It's much later and I have never returned to flying, and probably never will. It was probably the right decision, but once entirely given up, it can be hard to arrange to return to an activity.

You could tow the Escape with the Cobra.... um, maybe not ;)

Jim I just retired last Monday so I could spend more time doing what I like... and it involves towing my Escape all over the place and probably moving to southern Alberta. Thus being closer to the border just incase we want to head south for the winter.;D

Your Escape 19' provides you with a lifestyle you enjoy 24 hours a day when in use. The AC offers great thrills, but for a brief period of time when you use it. Both are very important in life. Clearly, one lasts longer than the other tho. After much thought, the only acceptable choice is to have both!

I'm thinking that today is April 1st and Jim has no intention of selling his Escape for a car.

you might be right Jim, but we might still be neighbours, so if I need a large hole cut in the roof of my escape I'll give you a call LOL.

ps: does Alberta have forestry sites?

For sure, I would be glad to add a nice conservatory on the top of your trailer for you. :)

Where abouts do you plan to live?

There are some nice forestry sites, we used to use them all the time, and realy enjoyed them. Now, for weekends we tend to go to a nice chunk of rec property I own with my 2 brothers NW of Sundre on the James River. Lots of friends and family come out to use it too. Good chance of getting an invite, ;)
And, nobody but the coyotes seem to fuss about our noise playing guitars around the campfire. ;D

Thanks Jim I sent you a PM

Oh I know this was an April Fool's joke, but we actually do have an AC Shelby Cobra and find time to play with it and camp as well! We just sold our Casita and have a 5.0 Escape coming in June. In the meantime, we are going to San Marcos, Texas for the state-wide Cobra Rally this coming weekend. We'll be cruising the Texas Hill Country with 100 other Cobra's at this annual event. Husband is not yet retired but we do have very busy weekends, VERY BUSY! (I would insert a picture of the Cobra if someone could tell me how to do it!)

I was sitting in the barber's chair last year when a very large (30-40?) group of Cobra's went through town on Highway One right past the barber shop, single file, glass-packs throbbing. Delayed my haircut, but what a thrill watching them all.

I believe they are louder than Harleys. I keep watching on Ebay, hopefully before I get too old to use a clutch. Generally around 30-60K for the kit cars unless you get an aluminum or genuine Shelby, then you are in triple digits. That is the reason I keep playing the lottery!!
