Yup, my first stop was Portland on a big gray US Navy boat for the annual Rose Festival in 1975, decided I'd had enough Midwest winters.....Hmm that picture of the painted hills in #17 is definitely east of the Cascades (as are the Wallowas and Smith Rock).
We were on a road trip after Dave got out of the service many years ago. We fell in love with the place and, much to our families dismay, never went back to NY! Love it here, it's a special place.
