Inspiration for the 5.0?

This article popped up my news feed today:

It looks like an 1980's rendition of the 5.0. Even the layout appears quite similar.

I know that Bigfoot built a fiberglass 5th wheel during this era, but I've never heard of a Roll-A-Long before.

I'm a little disappointed that the author opted to compare it to a modern Scamp 5th wheel....but not an Escape!

IF awareness of this did inspire Reace .... IMO that takes nothing from his development of the original single-axle and later TA 5.0, and I'm thankful he was inspired by whatever!

As someone who has logged quite a bit of time driving 4 cylinder Toyota trucks of that vintage....I'm pretty sure I could pass that rig on a grade while riding my road bike.

For several years I hauled a 21' sailboat on a heavy trailer with an old 4 cyl., 4 speed Toyota. Yup, slow as molasses but like the Energizer Bunny, it just kept going and going. Wish my F150 was as reliable.
