I'm getting ready to install this Umbra Flip 5 Hook on the wall between the bath and the bed in our 21C. I had Escape reinforce this wall during production.

My Questions:
** How thick is this wall? or How long of screws should I be using?

I don't want to run a screw through the fiberglass shower wall.

Thanks in Advance!:thumb:

I remember 3/4" plywood. I just used the screws that were provided with the Umbra hooks and it was fine.

I also installed a hand rail on the wall and used 1" screws the hand rail mounting plate was 1/4" thick.

I just used 3m double sided tape, 2 strips 3/4 inch wide the full length of the Umbra hook backing. Clean the wall and the back of the bar with acetone, or alcohol first.

Still going strong 5 years later

Our piece has some sort of fuzzy material on the back. Will it stick to that?

If have some of the 3M strips with velcro for hanging picture frames.

I would rather deal with screw holes, if you ever decide to remove it the 3M stuff will peal the picture of wood paneling surface. We probably never will but I don't like to stick things where you can't remove them without damage.

Also why have the reinforced wall and the extra weight if you aren't going to take advantage of it.

Good point. We used the 3M Velcro when we attached our Umbra to the paneling below the dinette bench - to hold shoes. It's not as obvious if a bit of the finish peels off in that area.

Thanks everyone.

I took the plunge and put two screws in our Lil' Baby.:eggrv:

Oh no! Not screws:). Ha, I’ve cut holes and drilled in many places in my Escape. I look for ways to not put holes in the trailer, but bouncing it down the road sometimes mechanical fasteners are helpful. I hope it works well for you.

I had to drill hole in the wall to mount a TV so we've already reduced its resale value.

Would it be fair to say, you've screwed it up? No worries, in this application it's better to screw it up than to nail it!
