Here's one for Reace and/or Tammy that other owners may also be interested in:

I was looking at the Escape website photos of the 19, and saw that aluminized bubble insulation is now being used under the front benches to insulate those portions of the trailer. My 19 is an '09 (#21, I believe) and did not come equipped that way. Two questions -- 1. Is that stuff self adhesive, or does it have to be glued on (and if so, what adhesive)? and 2. Is it the same insulation I see in rolls in the hardware store, or if it's not, where can I get some?

Upgrading the insulation looks like a good winter project when the trailer has no where to go.

We have a extra insulation package and with that have the bubble insulation in all the under storage areas. To me it looks identical to the Reflectix rolls that I have in the garage. The Reflectix I have does not have adhesive on the back, but maybe it is available that way :http://www.reflectixinc.com

A good quality double-sided tape should hold it in place just fine but I think if you want an R value from it, it requires an air space between the shiny side and the exterior - can't remember how it is applied now in the under storage areas.

Good point regarding the double sided tape. I have used a fair amount in the trailer already, holding down non-slip padding in the cabinets and a bit of insulation on the exterior shower door.

I heard back from Reace and Tammy as to what they use -- you were right, Eric, it's double sided Reflectix. They glue theirs in, I think I'll look for a quality double-sided tape since I'm doing a retrofit.

I've used double sided foam tape to hold up the paper towel holder ( didn't want to drill holes until I was satisfied with the location ) and to hold up a 4" x 8 " x 1" oak mount with my thermometer, barometer and humidity gauge. Both are still firmly attached after three years and I've not gotten around to screwing the paper towel holder in place above the sink or fixing the gauges in place. Driven a lot of washboard with no issues.

If I read the chart right, looks like direct application to the shell interior gives around R4, which is a lot better than just the shell. I finished the front storage spaces, and got the wheel well areas and interfaces with the cabinets done in the storage area. Given that the mattress insulates over the bed, I'm calling it good enough.
