We have a 2002 17' Casita which we have really enjoyed through the years. Now retired, we're considering long road trips, maybe as much as a couple of months.

Considering both the 19' and 21' Escape. We're used to small spaces, but the added space will make the longer trips more tolerable. Just struggling between the two models before we make a deposit. Is fuel (gas) consumption significantly different with the 21? Is the added space with the 21 worth it? We are not big people.

We tow with a 2003 GMC 1500.

So much to learn!

Regards,
Mark & Claudia

One thing I had never considered in our decision, but I do now is that our 19 is the largest trailer that I want to wash n wax and maintain. As I get older and have been confronting some health issues, it is more time consuming and takes a toll doing the maintenance. The extra width and length doesn't sound like much until you have to wash n wax and reach the entire roof surface on a ladder.
In addition to the recent realization above, we love the layout of the 19 and the full queen bed. With that said they are both super trailers and you need to make sure you see both models and decide what is right for you.

Mark and Claudia - first off, welcome to the Forum. The layouts of the 21 and 19 are very different and so appeal very differently to folks. I would highly recommend trying to view both of them if you have not already had a chance to do that. I think whichever layout you prefer is probably a more important factor than the space gain of a 21 over a 19.

Have fun!

Mark, head to a rally for viewing or phone the ETI office for a local referral- link to the right in red.

The "feel" of sitting in the 21 sealed it for me, plus the larger bathroom. YMMV.
