Hi my name is katy, I have a silver Ford escape 2012. I am looking to buy a trailer to live in with my car. I'm new to to trailers and this whole idea. Does anyone know which type of trailer I should look for to buy? I have about 10k to buy one. I'm not sure about the towing weight it can handle. Ease help all info is appreciated 😁♥️ I am a astrologer looking to follow my dreams

So, shouldn't you have all the answers?
Katy, ignore Glenn. Sarcasm doesn't display well in text. You'll find the answers as to the tow weight your vehicle can actually tow in YOUR owners manual.

Now the bad news. 10k isn't going to get you much in today's used trailer market. I've never seen an Escape trailer sell for that low amount, no matter the year. You MIGHT consider one of the other brands of all-molded towables. There's thousands that have been built over the years.

I sincerely suggest you join our sister website FiberglassRV, where you'll receive lots of help and may very well find a used trailer for sale within your budget: https://www.fiberglassrv.com/forums/

Good luck on your egg hunt :thumb:

Welcome Katy.

You are probably in the used RV market. Most of these trailers start about 23K.

But the used market is good right now if you are careful. You will need to educate yourself. Not all that hard, but it will take time.

Ask questions like you just did and people will help you.

I studied Astrology under the wise Debra Silverman. The night sky with your own trailer will serve you well. Great things await. Welcome.

Good luck in your hunt for your dream trailer. With your vehicles towing capacity you might want to look at something like a teardrop.

A friend of mine recently expressed interest in teardrop trailers. I had to tell her that I knew nothing about them. Are there any made of fiberglass? What would be a good reference for teardrop trailers? Katy would probably want to know as well. Thanks.

I think they are all stick built but like you I have never researched them. I was just tossing out ideas for her to maybe research in her search.

The good thing about fiberglass trailers is that they are good for many years. My first one was built in 1970 and I used it, in close to original condition, from 2007-2016. While Escapes are too new for your price range, you may find something decent in an older Scamp or Casita or Burro. I agree with Donna, check out Fiberglass RV.

“So, shouldn't you have all the answers?”

It is precisely because of such snarky, condescending, snide remarks like this that several women Escape owners that I’ve talked to do not like to ask questions on this forum. I was a member of another RV forum for fifteen years and never encountered such rude remarks like I’ve seen on this forum.

Yup I feel the same way…If I post I think about it for a long time then I usually regret when I hit the send :nonono:

Hi: Katybird... Packing your dreams will only require a small lightweight fiberglass trailer. What's in the cards for you is anybody's guess. Fiberglass trailers are expensive and when they come up for sale seem to evaporate overnight. :whistling: Alf

Katy, you will want to find out the tow rating for your Escape. It may depend on what engine you have or whether yours has some tow package or whatnot. Properly equipped, that older style Escape (with V6, I think) could tow up to 3500 lbs. But you'll need to consult your owners' manual, or maybe ask a service tech at a dealership (they can run your vin and tell exactly how it came equipped).

In your stated budget, you might (through diligent searching and a dose of luck) find a 20+ year old Scamp or Casita or Boler that needs some tlc. More likely you could find some popup trailers. Besides the ones with screened sides, there are the hardsided Aliner and Chalet "A-frame" trailers. And of course, teardrops have already been mentioned.

I loved your first line better,
but then again I'm one of those mean-spirited men.
And I always liked far side comics. LOL
I think the first version might have passed if it had been accompanied by a  or a LOL or a "just kidding." But not when put forth as a serious comment.

If your dreams include an old man, I know someone who enjoys ladies company.😊

Katy, I would recommend (as others have done) finding out the tow capacity of your vehicle. You certainly could find something in your price range in an AFrame trailer.

I would encourage you to join both of these Facebook groups. On the women's network you will find lots of helpful advice born of long-time experience. And on the marketplace you may find something you like. Don't discount an aframe until you've looked at one. I owned two before I purchased my Escape. My 6'4 son and his family (4 total) camp happily in a Chalet Aspen.
