Anyone have suggestion for adhesive to secure frameless window pane to outer pane?

Been over a year and Lippert has still not sent replacements to my RV tech and they will not discuss the case with me because I did not place the order.

Actually had one fall out while in my driveway.

Is there a recall? What years does it include?

Our 5.0 was built late 2018 but so far we haven't had any windows delaminate (knock on wood)

I've ordered a couple of windows from Lippert. They came in damaged each time but when I called them they were one of the best customer service groups I've ever called.

They sent replacements right away without asking for the damaged ones back. EZPZ.

Give them a call and plead your case. Their very helpful attitude might get things moving.

I have tried that. Because the order was placed by my RV Tech they would not discuss the case with me. Thank you though. I may just try again and maybe a different cust service rep will be helpful.

Did they find out about the RV tech orders themselves, or did you tell them about it when you called? If it was the latter, I wonder if you could just take the approach of ordering your own replacements, and not mention the RV tech order.

Thanks for the suggestions re Lippert support.

I told Lippert the case # (from my tech) when I called and they would not discuss it with me because I did not place the order.

My RV tech claims to follow up with them, but I'm not hovering over his shoulder, so I don't know. But they have told me that Lippert recall orders take a long time and are usually wrong/damaged the first time around.

I am not going to buy the same type of new window to replace a defective item. I'll probably gorilla glue defective ones and replace with another type window in Spring at my expense.

I did provide Escape the Lippert case number and asked them to please just contact Lippert to see if they can get things moving. Escape's response was basically "you're on your own". I certainly understand that Escape did not make the window, but they did install it. I did not ask Escape for any recourse other than call to help push the recall order. No luck with Escape either.

I suggest consulting with a local glass or auto glass shop rather that attempting to repair with off-the-shelf glues.....even if it is just a temporary fix. There are industry-specific adhesives available that are designed for this type of application.

I bought a tire cable hoist from them to mount my spare tire under the front of my 5.0TA, The housing/guard was cracked. Though this would not affect the performance I contacted them for a replacement piece. In short order I received a whole new unit, not just the part. Good and fast service.

Sorry you’ve had this problem. I’m presently replacing the second (of the four) insulated frameless Lippert loft windows in my 2021 5.0 due to failed pane adhesive. At least the outer pane didn’t fall off but it became severely clouded.

Originally Escape sent me to Lippert directly as I’m out of warranty, but when L customer service quoted me $600+ US for this “custom job” 😳, I got back in touch with Escape parts. They’re working on getting a replacement more in the $250US range from their inventory.

Hi, I had a problem with the back split window on my 2021 Escape19. The window was leaking and upon further investigation I noticed that 3/4 of the window pane was missing adhesive where it is hinged. I called Lippert and asked what adhesive I should use to glue where the adhesive was missing. They told me to use 100% pure silicone. I removed the window and cleaned all the surfaces with isopropyl alcohol applied the silicone and clamped the window and let it set for 24 hours. It made a very strong bond and I have had no issues since then. I have taken many trips and have checked the window and all is fine.
Hope this helps.

Thanks Gary, I appreciate the information. That will be my next step since I'm not getting any help from Lippert and Escape seems disinterested at best.

Cheers!

Thank you for the information. I will probably end up replacing all of the windows but will not do the frameless double pane again. Repair is my next move while I decide on what to replace them with.

3M 5200 adhesive will permanently stick the two parts together. Apply thin bead to metal with window cranked all the way in. Tape window closed then extend window crank until contact of metal to glass and wait several days to cure.

Make sure to read the instructions on how to prepare the surface for proper bonding of 5200 to the surface. It is important.

I had a both sides delamination of the loft windows on my 2021 5.0. Out of warranty so bit the billet and had them replaced. In future I will go the home repair path with adhesive like many of you have done. Darn it. I like the tip out aspect of the frameless windows rather than having lateral slides.

5200 is overkill, I also do not think it comes in clear. Aquariums are put together with silicone.

The strange thing is that when I was introduced to silicone eons ago, yes, aquariums were held together with silicone. But in the years since I've seen so many silicone failures with prolonged exposure to moisture to ever use it because there's so many much better adhesives. I might tease Donna about silicone from time-to-time but personally I never touch the stuff. :)

When it comes to holding windows together that live flying down the highway I don't think anything is overkill.
