I bought a 200 Ah lithium battery for our 17B and installed it in the front storage box. I moved the Renogy mppt charge controller there as well and I installed a Victron 18 A dc-dc charger. I’m reusing my Renogy battery monitor to determine SOC. All went smoothly thanks to advice from this forum !

I’m told not to store the battery fully charged. So I’ll use the refrigerator to load the battery and bring it down to 50% SOC ? Is that the best option ? I don’t have an inverter to use.

Can the battery sit fully charged for a month between trips or does it always need to be kept below 100% ?
Should I turn off the solar when the trailer is parked ?

It shouldn’t need any charge while in storage, LiFePo4 batteries have a low leakage rate. If you store it for more than a couple years, then it may need a charge.

Last June I removed our two 100ah SOK batteries that were fully charged and installed two 206 ah batteries.

When we got home a month ago I checked the 100 ah batteries that sit in our heated condo garage. One was 13.25v and the other around 13.2v.

The need to only have 80% charge has been debunked.

The 100ah batteries will go in my son's Casita, as soon as he finds one near their home.

Food for thought,

Perry
