Locked out

Since the door isn't very thick it may stick out too far and make the clean lines of the body fugly... does it need to be wired to power?

Maybe getting a pair of Maxwell Smart shoes with the movable heel for a key hidey hole is in order? Just pulling your chain. Getting locked out can BE seriously inconvenient.

Had a similar issue happen last weekend. The handle lock locked itself with both keys still in the trailer. Of course this happened at 1030pm, so I just pulled hard on the handle lock and broke it but we got in

Anyone know what the cause might be so I can avoid this in the future? I'll be contacting ETI today to order a replacement.

This is a 6 year thread with specific issues with Fastec locks which was remediated back in 2014. What was your issue? the old issue involved keys not working....

Things like this are one reason I always get an extra set of keys made and keep in the truck, in addition to the keys we each carry with us. Haven't ever needed them......yet.

I do the same, also hid a truck key in the trailer. This way someone can steal both.

I had this or a similar issue on our 2023 E19. On the inaugural trip, the key to unlock the deadbolt spun without moving the actual deadbolt. Luckily, the final breakage happened as I was unlocking, and the sliding part of the deadbolt was in such a position that I care just barely open the door. I disassembled the lock to remove the bolt itself, so I that at least continue my trip without risking that it would move past the faceplate while continuing my drive from vibrations.

I notice that there seems to be enough flex in the frame and body of the trailer that the deadbolt is probably subject to stress between the face plate and the strike plate, as those move relative to each other while driving.

Also, the screws holding the face plate (and thus the lock mechanism) weren’t even hand tight when I replaced the lock mechanism. I don’t know if they were that way from the factory, if they worked themselves out due to the stress, but might be worthwhile checking…
