Looking for a 17B in BC, Western Canada or PNW

Hey SunnyCamper!

I'm in the Chilliwack area and bought a new Escape 17B F2 at the end of summer last year. We had big plans to start traveling with the trailer, but then as luck would have it, we ended up buying a property in the interior with a cabin, and now our priorities have shifted to that instead. So now we're looking to sell the trailer. If only we had known!

We've only used it 3 times locally (about 500kms total) and it's essentially still in brand new condition. Stove has never been used. No pets or kids. The trailer is currently winterized and parked for storage.

I just created an account on the forum so that I could list the trailer for sale, but I saw your post and figured I'd reach out to you first, especially given that you're local :)

Attached are photos and the list of options we chose. The trailer has the 7 year platinum warranty (added 5k value not listed on the purchase order) and my understanding is that it is transferrable. We also installed an Andersen WDH (with 2" ball hitch) and would be happy to include that in the sale.

Looking at Escape's pre-builds (https://escapetrailer.com/product-category/escape-17/), they're generally going for about $66k - $70K (before tax). We purchased for $63,339 (before tax) and so would be looking for around $57K.

Let me know if you have any questions or would be interested in discussing further.

Cheers,

Jason

Thanks for reaching out Jason I have a deposit down for an inventory. If for any reason, it doesn't end up finalizing beginning this week I will reach out. I'm keen to purchase and get customizing a unit!

Still open to looking at 17b and 19s in PNW/Western Canada.
Hi @SunnyCamper-FGRV ! Am I right in thinking your Inventory Escape and the one available in Chilliwack didn't work out? Are you looking for an older used model or, newer one - my impression, as you were looking at Inventory Escapes, is that you're looking new'ish.

I see you're in Victoria. We've got a 17B - 2024 - in Nanaimo. If you haven't had an opportunity to see one in person we're more than happy to show you around ours. Right now it's in 'winterized' mode - i.e. all cushions removed/cupboards open i.e. she's not looking her best - but in a few weeks time we'll be setting up for the month of April at the Living Forest Campground and would be happy to give you a tour then if you're still looking.

Thanks for reaching out! I’m still hoping on getting the inventory unit, but will need to wait a little bit longer for financing for that - I’ve never had an installment loan and only purchased vehicles in cash so just need to get an installment loan history.

In the meantime I’m keeping an eye out for other units as if I found something suitable I’d purchase and order custom in a year or two.

I’m heading off to California for a month but will definitely reach out when I’m back and maybe take another look at a 17b - I was able to connect with an ambassador in Victoria. Curious, are you still happy with the 17 size? I see a lot of people saying to move up to 19ft for more space - I’m a single person with a small dog, moving up from a 13’ boler. I don’t need a ton of space

I’ve definitely gotten the Escape “itch” and am excited to be an Escape owner this.

We thought moving from our Scamp 13 to an E17 would give us a whole bunch of extra space. Went out to place a deposit and it ended up going for a 19, now a 21C:). Friends have a 17B and if we only had a small tow vehicle we'd be fine with it. But we have a larger tug so.....

Two-foot-itis is real @SunnyCamper-FGRV and it sounds like you've got a case of it. I will admit - we too have eyed the 19' and considered moving up in a year or two.

Having said that, the 17 is, IMO, ample for a single and furry family. We love the "rooms" in our Daisy - we've got the permanent bed which we use as a Theatre-room, library-room and best-view-in-the house room....oh yes, and the bedroom. It's nicely obscured from the rest of the living space, which we really appreciate.

We also really love the wardrobe! It's loads of extra storage and meal prep space plus makes an awesome bar.

We ordered without the front dinette table and don't regret it. We've got a vintage TV tray that's super lightweight, fits our MCM decor vibe and turns the space into an office and a games room. Again - the "room" separation is strong in the 17. I don't think we'd have that feeling in the 19'.

Then - there's the cute-factor. I just love cute and the 17' is, not quite as adorbs as the new 13' but definitely is the next cutest form factor.

Many prefer dual axle and extra space and those are really valid points. The dual axle, for our purposes - mostly Island travel, serviced Parks (no gravel/off-road) - is a bit of overkill IMO. I get the points about easier to tow and safety in case of a flat, I do, they just aren't hugely compelling. At least not right now. Same as the extra space - maybe someday (soon'ish) - just not now.

Touch base any time you're up our way, after April 1st, if you want to take another look at a different 17.

Whether the 17 or 19 is a better fit depends upon a lot of factors, including your tow vehicle and the type of camping you prefer. I went from a 13' Livin' Lite to a 31' ATC when I retired, and I certainly enjoy the extra space and ability to carry my ATV. But, I had to get a large tow vehicle and I do not fit in most national park campgrounds. Off-highway boondocking is out of the question. As I get older, I will probably trade down again, and the 17' Escape is on my shortlist.
My mother and her 100lb Doberman camped for years in a Dodge campervan. She did a lot of off-highway boondocking because she could. I guarantee you'll have more space in an Escape 17 than my mother had in her van.

LOl!! YES I have two-foot_itis. I have had my 17B for a year and LOVE it, BUT, the idea of having a queen size bed and a larger dinette are so enticing..... I looked at some of the inventory ones on sale and was like. hmmm... but my tow vehicle is the limiting factor at the moment. I have a Honda Pilot and theoretically I can tow a 19, but it would be right at the max recommend, and I am still learning how to tow a trailer... One day.... sigh...
