Looking for ideas or experience installing a removable table

I’ve been thinking that it would be desirable and should be possible to install a removable base for the Springfield table — allowing the table to be removed and stored when not needed/wanted. We haven’t gotten our E21NE delivered yet, but it seems you might be able to lock the metal table base down onto a sturdy plywood base (e.g., 1”x2’x2’) by sliding one side of the metal base under a lip mounted on the plywood and pivot 2 latches on the other side to lock the base into place.? Alternately maybe you could attach the metal table base to the plywood using grip-top threaded bolts? Has anyone tried anything similar or have other ideas on making the Springfield table removable?

A more basic question I have is whether the Springfield table leg pull out of the cone-shaped base and/or does it separate from the table top?

We are also open to options that don’t use the Springfield. Any thoughts, insights or experiences trying to install a removable table, successes or failures, would be greatly appreciated.

I tried a folding, height adjustable, steel metal sawhorse as a table base when I removed the stock, 2 post supports. It didn't work out well and I acquired a Springfield support instead. We nightly convert the table area to a bed and require that capability.

A lightweight folding table base with a 1/2" thick veneer plywood table top might work.
There are folding table supports available.......example only shown.

Can't help you there. There's never been a time when I'd want to remove my table. Can't even visualize not having it as it's an essential part of our interior.

But, yes, mounted to a base sheet of plywood that slides into brackets would probably be doable. But then you're moving a sizable object inside the trailer. I'd use your trailer a bit before feeling that you have to make those kind of decisions.

Thanks for the info on the folding legs, that could be a good option. What didn't work well with the sawhorse(s)?

We have appreciated the "removabilty" in past campers but we'll see how things feel with this one. We ordered the Springfield uninstalled so we haven't made any commitments yet... Thanks for the input.

The sawhorse was heavy, storage and handling was awkward at best, and a bit wobbly as a table.
Nothing to store with a Springfield, so I went with that.

As Ron suggested, a U-channel bracket attached to the wall and a folding RV table leg would be another path.

Do a search for "RV folding tables".

That set up looks somewhat like the table in our T@B 400, which we liked, but we have no front wall to use in our 21NE. Something with 2 folding legs, as shown in the pic you included, could work. Thanks

@HABBERDABBER - can the Springfield be disassembled into the top, leg and base, or is it one permanently connected piece?
The Springfield is not made for disassembly
That said, you can disassemble most things, but putting it back together is another story.
It is a one piece design, made up of multiple pieces.

As others have suggested, wait until you get your rig to see exactly what may work for you.

congrats -- my build i told escape to not mount the table base to the floor but instead had them include the same linoleum to be able to mount the bases to plywood ... so far it is good and allows me to pull the whole table and base to set up outside -- also just added the drop in power strip that ties into my inverter and has been handy to have while working at the table... this photo is before i glued the linoleum onto the plywood and blends in...

I did something like that on my 19 since I hate the factory pedestals I made a custom base. I could undo 4 wing nuts and take the whole table outside. At least that was the theory but I never felt the need.

Great idea; I like the linoleum addition!

I like the frame. Did you attach it to the wall or just the floor? A disassemlable frame with a reduced-size table top might work well in our 21

No, it wasn't attached to the wall. The center connecting tube prevented it from racking.

I should mention that the chief motivation for this design was to have a minimum of table supports in the foot space.

I have a 2022 19 with the queen size bed side as the permanent dinette, not wrapped. I too wanted a removable table so that the area would be more big dog friendly, could fit a crate if I needed. Right now I use a folding Ikea outdoor table. But I am thinking of installing the hwhongrv.com three level adjustable marine pedestal table. The reason why I like it over the Springfield is that the base is "flattish" and the table leg gets screwed into the base. So if I didn't want the table I could easily take apart the leg and top and only be left with the 1/3 inch high or so base on the floor, which is not overly obstructive. Would appear that it is not as sturdy as the Springfield but my tabletop size will only be 24 X 30. When I order and install I will update with pictures.

I’ll check that one out and I’d love to see pics and hear your thoughts if you do install it. I haven’t done anything yet and we do like the open space where a table would be.
Thanks!
