Looking to be a 21 ft owner

I agree with you disagreeing. I have the box but waffled for a long, long time over it. I'm glad I have it now but should I have decided against it, I'm sure that would have been okay, too. It's a very high-ticket item to have as standard when so many do not want or have it.

I agree about the price. Of course, most of the 'desirable' options don't come cheap. I guess you prioritize which bigger ticket items are most important to you.

I can understand a certain amount of "standard" stuff as it simplifies the manufacturing process, but the options ETI offers seem to be a fair tradeoff between cost and preferences. Wouldn't want to bump the price point past where the baseline customer would buy.

Does anyone know if the two 20 pound LP tanks will fit in the storage box? Anyone investigated this ? Not saying it will happen but if I find I have just little stuff to put in it, maybe get the LPs out out sight. Just wondering.

No way. Not nearly deep (front to back) enough.

Well then I will have to find lots of light weight stuff to put in it. Thanks for confirming.

No trouble there, at least for us. X-chocks, levelers, sewer elbow, hoses, the patio mat - lots of wet/dirty things. Super convenient.

Once again, does anyone know the dimensions of the storage box and the wt. capacity in lbs? Thanks in advance. And yes Donna, I know you can't convert it into a hot tub.

Dimensions - it's tapered top to bottom and side to side. Which do you want? Sticker attached says load limit 100 lbs.

I thought the storage boxes were all the same but apparently not or they have changed sizes since they discontinued the 15. Here are mine; all measurements very approximate due to rounded corners.

They're different widths for different models, so that they extend to the corners of the trailer (well, close to the corners anyway).

Regarding the 21' does any one know what the standard battery is now? Group size, type ( marine, deep cycle ) I realize marine type is often considered deep cycle. Manufacturer?

I see a 232ah dual 6v is an option and I remember reading that if taking the standard battery now it would be a simple swap to dual 6v ( group GC2 ) as they would fit in the same box ? Did I misunderstand that comment ? Must be an oversized battery box under the street side dinette.

We will be visiting ETI mid September and if all goes well placing an order.

Oh, wait ! I just noticed in the options list a photo of the 6v batteries being mounted on the rear bumper. Not a clean, graceful solution. Guess I will take the standard 12v inside the trailer and take it from there.

The Features list for the 21 Foot (and every other model) shows "Group 27 Deep Cycle Battery" as a standard feature.

"Dual 6V Batteries (232 amp hrs) - $275" is listed as an option; all models list dual 6V batteries as an option, but don't specify capacity; they are GC2 size.

Some forum members have reported buying a Group 29 battery as an option, but I don't see it listed for any model. This is typically reported as having anything from 115 to 126 amp-hour capacity and a $50 upgrade price.

At least the 6 volt and Group 29 batteries - and probably all of them - are from Interstate.
6 volt: Interstate Batteries | Deep-Cycle 6-Volt Battery | RV Batteries | Camper Batteries
I don't see any dedicated deep-cycle 12-volt batteries on the Interstate site, only Interstate Batteries | Deep-Cycle | RV Batteries | Pro ECL Series; these don't list a capacity in amp-hours at C/20 discharge rate (the standard for deep-cycle capacity rating).

Jim reported that the larger single battery comes in a larger box which will hold the dual batteries. The standard battery comes in a smaller box which would not hold two batteries:
If you order the the group 29 battery option, ETI installs the larger battery box which holds dual 6 volts. That is what I did, so just ask for the larger box, regardless of which battery you choose.

The dual (6 volt) batteries are only mounted at the rear (just ahead of the bumper) on the 17 Foot; even a single battery is mounted there on 17 Foot, and always has been. The battery - or pair of batteries - is not at the bumper in any other model. Unfortunately, it looks like they used the same photo for the option on all models.

Thank you Brian, what would we do without you and others that know all this in great detail.

Yes it was Jim that mentioned same box would for 2 6v duals. So if I keep the standard grp 27 I will ask for the larger battery box knowing I will be upgrading, better yet upgrade to the grp 29 and get the bigger box.

Having old photos of options is not helpful, if not for this forum I don't think many of us would know what we are getting or could get when we purchase our Escape. Having said that I do appreciate very much ETI's willingness to customize more than their competitors. I am grateful this forum is so willing to help and answer our questions. As there is no where else to go with trailer ordering questions regarding all the options not published on their web site.
