measurement request on 19

I need a 2measurements on a 19 dinette bench seat that does not have raised floor.



1. inside area of drivers side bench length ,width and height

2. opening at end of bench with bench door option .


if some one got a tape and few extra minutes this would be very helpful .

If you are working with a sales person at Escape they have floor models on which these measurements can be gotten and relayed to you. I asked mine several times and she was glad to measure and email me back, sometimes with a photo.....

Giving exact numbers is difficult because the front is sloped and to a lesser extent the side is as well, and the front corner has a large radius. So the dimensions are different at the floor than at the top. Also, there is some bracing roughly in the middle that could interfere with whatever you have planned.

Anyhow here’s what I measured (near the midpoint for L and W) on our 2017 with the extra insulation:

Inside area LxWxH: 39.75” x 23.5” x 14.75” inches

End door WxH: 12.5” x 12”

Edit- just noticed that you asked for the drivers side... above is for passenger side. Drivers side can’t have an end door and the space inside is significantly reduced by a storage tank intrusion and the electrical center.

Thank you that is very helpful. I trying to figure out if I can turn that compartment into built in dog crate. Of course i have to line it and add some ventilation also put a wire door on. I assume if i got the raised dinette that 14.75 would be 3" higher. In the casita my dog would just crawl under bed. that was only 15" high , she could not walk under but she crawl under and then had plenty of room.Just trying to figure out best place to set up in escape.Thanks for measuring

There is very little space available under the drivers side dinette. The black tank is there as is all the electrical since the converter is also located there. Hardly any storage space let alone for an animal. The passenger side is more open and you can get an outside compartment door. We have 2 dogs and there is not enough room inside for any crate, outside plenty of room.

I could not answer your question before as my drivers side bench has be modified from stock.
Now that we know what you are really planing, maybe theses pictures will help.

As mentioned the drivers side bench houses the black tank and the power panel to the right of it. So no door can be place in the side of the bench unless you relocate your power panel over the black tank like I did. That requires a higher seat height.
So just to be clear...you can’t just move the power panel over the black tank in any stock configuration of a 19 that Escape sells as there is not enough vertical room.

Thanks for the info, looks like if there is a way to do it, it would have to be on The passenger side .
I would think that raised dinette would make that area deeper.


My other option is under the bed,But i did get a measurement of that and it only 13" because of the stepped floor under there. Not sure if i could raise that bed. I do train my dogs to be well behaved,But i bird hunt them and often times they may come back all mud and i find it best to keep them out of the bed. Under the bed of the casita worked well, I lined the floor with rubber mat and put a 24"x36" dog bed under there. easy to clean and out of the way. under table might work if i did something about the 2 pole system there using now. although it be just a dog bed and no crate but i sure i could train the new pup thats her spot. I see the old escapes used to hang the table of the back wall and have one leg. in my case that would work perfect

You have the option now of having the Springfield table mount, so there would only be one pole. It would be in the middle, however.

I would make a bed under the passenger bench with an open end on the bench and a hatch on the outside with a hinged screen and bars so they could not pop out. This would give them air and a chance to enjoy a view of the outdoors.
Also the hatch may aid you in cleaning their little house and provide storage for items while you are driving...like a bbq. So the space serves dual duty and is not entirely lost for storage.

This might help you to gauge space. When I did my mini-split install I relocated batteries from the tongue to a Quick Cable box in the passenger dinette seat. This just barely fit height-wise. Tight width-wise because there is a seat support bracket that you can see. Plenty of length. Dimensions of box can be seen here: Quick Cable: Group 4D Commercial Battery Box

This is a classic 19, but newer models will be very similar.

Did they use chip board in the past? It is all plywood now.

Yes, my 2012 had chip board but 2014 and beyond was plywood.....

Yes plywood now. In the past it was oriented strand board (OS, not chipboard. Chipboard is more like particle board. Besides the appearance I don't see any real drawback to OSB versus plywood.

OSB is characterized by its constituent strand elements which vary in size and aspect ratio and are larger than the chips from which chipboard is pressed."

And yes you are correct of course. I just see the big chips of wood and sometimes call it that.

My Uncle has a shed covered in OSB and not painted. I asked him how many years had it been exposed to the elements? He said, just over 20. I was very impressed the way it looked...for that age.

I been in the building home industry all my life. Yes OSB will do the job cheaply in side walls of house. it will draw moisture I even replaced some roof because they did not leave the recommend 1/8"spaceing all away around panel. It draw moisture and swells . In my opinion there no use for it in a trailer at this cost.
