mirrors on my truck....suggestions please.

Hi everyone and Happy Thanksgiving !

Our 19 is due November 23rd and would like to hear suggestions on mirrors and such. We will be towing with a 2010 Nissan Frontier 4x4. What are your thoughts on mirrors and such in preparation for being truck ready.

I just bought a set of Milenco Grand Aero mirrors after years of using fender & strap on types. These attach to the vehicle mirror with thumb screws and are very secure. Showed them to a friend of mine that bought a another fairly expensive type for his Jeep and found that they didn't work as advertised and was impressed with the Grand Aero. After seeing mine, he is going to buy as set. There is a discussion under General discussion about towing mirrors. I bought mine at Woody's RV in Calgary, but most RV dealers can get them - plan on spending $150.00 + or more, but I think they are worth it.

I spent about $80 for a pair of Tow-n-see mirrors and I'm happy with them. However the suction cup attaches to the vehicle mirror surface, which blocks that part of it. And, when you adjust the Tow-n-see mirror, the vehicle mirror moves out of optimum position.
I'm guessing that the Milenco, attached to the mirror housing, can be adjusted separately from the vehicle mirror. True?
However, I can use my vehicle power-mirror feature to adjust the Tow-n-see mirrors, which comes in handy when backing into a site or for checking the trailer tires as I roll along.

I've been using Tow-n-see for four years with no real issues.
Vibration and holding haven't been a problem ( I clean the surfaces before installing ).

2X on the Milenco Grand Aero Mirrors. I also tried a bunch of strap on mirrors as well as the Tow-n-See mirrors and prefer the Milenco. The Tow-n-see too up too much of the standard mirrors, & while they never fell off, I always worried that they would. Also, less vibration with the Milenco mirrors. I made a magic marker outline of the clamps after I mounted them for the first time - makes it easy to remount the mirrors without needing to readjust them.

We have a 2011 Nissan Frontier and the 5.0. We haven't bought extended mirrors yet, and haven't felt uncomfortable driving. That said, the 5.0 is 4" narrower than the 19.

We may buy mirrors in the future...

So it seems that extended mirrors are a must have item not a option? We have never towed before and want to be prepared.

I too bought the Milenco Grand Aero Towing Mirrors after trying a few different strap-on models, and really like them for how well they work, and the ease of installing. I bought mine privately from an eBay seller for £55.00 shipped, which worked out to about $80. HERE is the link to them.

JanetW, we have Tow-N-See and they are just fine. Don't think we paid more than $20 or $25 for each. They are very lightweight and can be put on pretty easily. They must be tight. (Some reviewers obviously did not put theirs on tightly.) We use a drop of water on the suction part. The newer ones are changed for tightening and I actually liked the old way better. One of the best things about them as Baglo mentioned is that they can be adjusted from inside the car. That is a big deal. We cock ours because they are a little tall and narrow.

Well, I just ordered the Melinco ( even though I'm on a pension ) so I'll be able to do a true trial comparison.

The reason I went ahead is that I've never been comfortable with the off-side ( passenger side ) mirror. I had no problem glancing at the driver-side mirror and establishing a view, but I have always had to spend way more time focusing on the image in the off-side mirror. It's only a matter of seconds, but I don't like taking my eyes off the road ahead.

I'm hoping the larger mirror will solve that issue and that I can still adjust the vehicle mirrors to eliminate blind spots.

It was either that or stay in the slow lane and not pass anybody.

Got them at the link that Jim provided. Cost for the pair with shipping was $100.46 Can.
Downside is, if I don't like them I'll have to swim to the U.K. to return them.
