The Short Story: I made a few holes in the front awning support bars so it’s always level with the trailer when open.
The Details: I found myself going from side to side trying to get the front awning level with the trailer each time. It is more of a problem if the truck is still hooked up and in the way of standing back and looking at your attempt to level it up. I thought there must be an easier way.
Well, the easiest way is to simply mark the bars once you have measured both sides equally. Then you are good to go…well, sort of…depends on your OCD level.
You also still have to deal with the tiny wing nuts which sometimes I do too tight and are literally a pain.
What I found works for us is to insert a small, thin, cheap carabiner into a hole I drilled into each support. Before drilling the hole I looked at the location to judge where the hole would have the best stopping action and not twist around. The thinner the wire on the carabiner the smaller the hole required.
In the picture it looks like there is no front to back tilt on the awning but there is to allow water to run off the front.
