Hi there,

Nathen here, I've just joined and live in Vancouver BC. Not that far from where the Escape trailers are made. I'm looking to get an Escape 15 when I can. I did have a 16ft trailer 20 years ago and loved it. well, here's wishing!

I also belong to the www.accordionistsforum.co.uk and I know how important out is to belong to a forum that is specific to your interests.

Thank you for making me feel at home already in this forum. I already feel that much closer to my Escape trailer.

I'm wondering what the difference between the 15 ft and the 17 ft trailer really means besides weight. The 16 ft trailer I once had was everything I needed for just the two of us. We don't travel with a lot of stuff, not even a TV, so we don't need a lot of room. Just the bare necessities, plus my accordion of course! And my wife's art supplies.

I'm wondering what the difference between the 15 ft and the 17 ft trailer really means besides weight.

The additional length is mostly ahead of the axle, so while the 15' where the axle of a 15' is unusually close to the middle of the trailer body, the axle of the 17' is a bit further rear (in proportion to body length) than usual. The result is that the 17' should be a bit more stable and tends to run a bit more nose-heavy. Escape Trailer Industries puts the battery on the rear bumper of the 17' (instead of the tongue or forward in the body as in other models) to keep the tongue weight from being too high.

If comparing layouts with bathrooms ("Plan B"), the 17' adds a front dinette. If comparing layouts without bathrooms ("Plan A"), the 17' has a double bed instead of a single-bed-sized dinette, and adds a wardrobe closet. Another way to look at it is that a 17B has the same spaces as a 15A... plus a whole bathroom.

All sizes and layouts are good, and all size increases deliver benefits - it's just a matter of picking the one that suits you best, and achieves the best compromise of accommodation and towing load.

Thanks for the explanation Brian, that clears a lot of questions up for me. I never had a bathroom in my previous trailer, preferring more room instead. I like the double bed option I guess my next step is to take a trip out to Escape Trailers in Chilliwack and have a good look at them. Its only a little more than half an hours drive away.

Nathen, Have you attended the Cotati Accordian festival. They get attendee's from all over the world and they say it's the largest accordian gathering. Two years ago I ran a food booth there and really enjoyed it, great people, great time. It's 5 minutes from my home.

About 20+ years ago, I had the very good fortune to stumble upon San Fransisco's annual accordian festival near Fisherman's Ward. The highlight for me was a 19 year old from Latvia who opened his set with what he described as, (his) "favorite classical piece by an American artist." He broke into the mostbeautiful version of Hendrix's "Little Wing" I've ever heard. Been a big fan ever since; welcome, Nathen!
