Well, this evening I was walking into my Escape 19 while gobbling down this wonderful white fish dish I recently learned about on this forum and a big load of it spilled on my step carpet :eek:and I just just can't get the stain out and it really smells bad. I also noticed that the carpet is turning white where the stuff landed. Maybe is has some real strong ingredients. Does anyone on the forum have any tips on cleaning the step carpet and getting these stains out? I suspect our northern neighbors may be able to help. Thanks!...;D

Apply Poutine Gravy, then rinse off in the shower!

When I read the initial post, I said to myself, "Poutine will be mentioned in post #2".
Oh, I was so wrong, but close; it was Word #2.
edit: I have realized, belatedly, that I am underestimating the resources, skills, abilities, and (perhaps) the intelligence residing on this forum.
But, I don't deal with fish stains, sorry.

Send it to Canada in exchange for a poutine decorated (not stained) step.

And that from the country that invented breakfast burritos ;D

We've had great success with Folex carpet cleaner. Works well on animal type stains.

Hi: hotfishtacos... I always thought that you of all people could "Multi Task"!!! Apparently not. You can't walk and eat at the same time. I'd rub some baking soda into the stain then when it's dry vacuum thoroughly and apply a generous dollop of poutine gravy to restore the colour to the carpet.
Next time you make this fish dish... limit the amount of hot sauce in it!!! Alf

I had to look up chicken fried steak.
My question had been what it is, but now it's why is it?
And I found no mention of chicken in the recipe, which confounds me.
Given a choice, I'll have chicken fried steak over poutine ( even spell-check doesn't recognize poutine ).

Do not discount liquids made in Milwaukee...

And chicken fried steak.;D

I too heard of this for the first time a couple months ago. I too was confused, as it had nothing to do with chicken. I really gotta wonder how it got this name. Maybe it was deep fried along with the chicken.

I think I will take the poutine, thanks. :)

Jim,
It obtained it's name from the southerners, frying the steak in the same oil and coating used for their famous southern fried chicken.

FYI there's no Shepherd in Shepherd's pie either.

(I hope)!
