Just put a deposit on a 21-foot Escape. Pick up date will be first part of December. I only have five or six days to do my build list and pick everything out.. a lot to do in a short amount of time but hopefully I will get a lot of info on this site

It's really pretty easy, pick your flooring, fabric, and counter top, then just order all options.
Even easier, take the default floor, fabric, and counter top, and order all the options.

A lot depends on how you camp and your budget. There have been previous threads documenting “top three” options. When you read them a pattern develops that’s consistent with what customers value most in retrospect. For us it’s Storage box, solar with dual 6v batteries and a surge protector. We bought both of our Escapes second hand and fortunately they were both very well equipped. Have fun with it, it’s only money. Just my opinion.

Waiting period was 12 months when we ordered ours in 2016.

Regarding options, Peter, there are tons of threads discussing pros and cons of all of them, plus lots of “off the menu”, unadvertised options that might be of interest. There is a gargantuan amount of info on this forum for you to sift through. Basically, everyone camps differently, so other people’s choices and preferences may or may not line up with what matters to you. Read up. Ask questions. And one other thing, bear in mind that some options can be added easily down the road, but some are hard or impossible/impractical to add later, so if any of those are of interest, make sure you get them at the start.

I loaded up when I ordered mine and the only one I might reconsider were I to do it again is the inverter. After a month I can see It's going to get very little use.

I had the microwave in mind when I included the inverter and that sucker will hit the batteries hard. The inverter doesn't like it either. Sounds exactly like my truck turbo spooling up under load.

The microwave that Escape installs is an old tech model. Jon Vermilye and I both installed the Panasonic NN-SD372S as it makes using a microwave while boondocking easier on the inverter.

We waited 359 days from placing the order on April 1, 2016 to pickup date March 24, 2017. That was a long wait and a lot of mind changing back and forth but exciting.

Glad to hear that one can order a new trailer and can be camping in it the season. Big improvement.

Dinette choice?

One or two days left before we have to turn in our build sheet on the 21'. Trying to figure out why we either would or wouldn't want the dinette u-shaped. Any ideas from you guys would help. It's me, the wife and a 20-pound Westie.

The other thing we're having trouble with on this build is trying to figure out if there's anything we need to get ready to prep for cell phone. We plan on putting something like a Winegard or weboost in at some point. I also heard that there are some things Escape will do that aren't in the build list. Any help with that would be great

In our 19 (and in our upcoming 21), we had ETI put an extra utility door (like the door used with the attached electrical cord) into the area under the driver side dinette bench... we used that door to feed the cord from the exterior antenna to the Weboost booster that was kept under the dinette bench. Worked great in the 19 so we're doing the same in the 21.

FYI, our exterior antenna was not permanently mounted... it was on a telescoping "mast" that I bungee-ed to the spare tire when we camped in areas where the cell signal was weak.

Don’t know if you are planning on having the outside shower, but in case you do: there is the option having it mounted on the passenger side.
We like that location better for easy access, doing dishes etc.

Dual outside showers, dual outside hatches, dual inside extra small windows-bath and over 2 drawer stack. Also lower the curb side exterior light below belly band to light up step area.

My top 3 options are;
1. Extra insulation and dual glazed frameless windows
2. Solar and dual 6V batteries
3. Exterior shower on passenger side as rear as possible for dishes, cooking and showering if you wish

I actually did the last 2 myself, but is something the factory offers. Lots of other options I like too. Reading through past threads on the topic will give you lots to feed on.

It might depend it the pets are "On or Off" the furniture.
Without the U there is more floor space for a dedicated pet bed area
With the U there can be more lounge area if a smaller table is used

Either way I would go with the Springfield table mount

Thanks... the little Westie is definitely an on furniture dog. I'm surprised she allows us on the furniture.
