We bought our first Escape this weekend, a 2021 17B F1. It’s in wonderful condition and we will be traveling throughout New Mexico and Colorado this summer.
We are retired and have been living full time in a 1998 36’ U270 Foretravel for four and a half years. Our Escape will supplement our travels and serve as a backup to our classic diesel pusher. We have a lot at an SKP park near Carlsbad, NM. We are members of Escapees and I have camped in a tent, pop up, trailer or motorhome in all lower 48 states for the last 60 years.
We will spend the next two weeks whittling down our gear to venture out in the 17B. We are pulling it with a 2018 Chevy Colorado Z71 with a fiberglass topper, a couple kayaks, and an E-bike. Tomorrow I start diving into the electrical to set up a Victron battery monitor and figuring out our sleep system. The truck pulled it like a dream on the hitch.
It’s a daunting task to downsize. Normally we flat tow our pickup behind the motorhome. We’ve put right at 80,000 miles on the motorhome since July 2016. Before that I travelled 50,000 miles in a 97 Roadtrek in just five years while still working full time. New adventures await.
